(END SOT) Here we go again!!!

In a nutshell...that's the word from
government forecasters who predict

this year's hurricane season to be
another busy one.

Conrad Lautenbacher/Chief National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

"NOAA is predicting an above normal
hurricane season with 13 to 16 named
storms, of which 8 to 10 are predicted
to become hurricanes and 4 to 6

of those are predicted to become
major."

Forecasters don't believe this year
will be as active as last...but they
say... it only takes one hurricane in
your town for it to be a bad season.

Max Mayfield/Director, National
hurricane Center (11:17:30)

"We are in this very active period for
major hurricanes that may last

another 10-20 years. The message is
clear, we need to be prepared."

Susan Roberts bridge/New Orleans:

For the people of New Orleans, the
hurricane predictions are only the half
of it. A new independent study says
the city's levees could fail if another
hurricane hits the Big Easy.

Robert Bea/Levee Expert:"Our proposal
is to suggest to the American public
that we develop a flood defense
authority for the U.S."

On the heels of Katrina, The research
led by the University of

California, Berkeley,says the New
Orleans levee system was routinely
under funded and inadequate to protect
against hurricanes. The report blames
Congress for piece-meal funding and the
army corps of engineers

which was in charge of the design and
construction of the complicated system.

The Corp is currently in charge of the
levee reconstruction and the group
plans to release its own report on the
levees on June 1st...which happens to
be the same day hurricane season
begins.

inning.

With the big blast and the
eventual game winning hit coming on
this two run opposite field homer by
Lock Haven's Julie Robitaille. The
blast clears the fence easily and
despite and the wind does stay fair.

Lock Haven would get another run
in the third, but what they really got
was a lights out pitching performance
from tournament MVP Kristen Erb. She
struck out 8 batters today and *CG final Lock Haven finished the season with a 36 and one
