shooting Saturday morning in Roanoke.

The 1600 block of Melrose Avenue
is quiet now, but Saturday morning the
street was full of police
investigators, and onlookers after an
early morning shooting at this house.

One person was killed, and seven
others injured around three in the
morning after someone started shooting
during a crowded party.

22-year-old Timothy Jerome

Thompson died on the front porch.

While police look for the
shooter, the family of TJ Thompson is
searching for answers, and finding them
hard to come by.

They say the 22-year-old's duplex
had been broken into and shot at within

the last month. But, the family had
hoped those problems were behind him.

uncommon in the area, and they wouldn't
be surprised to see more shootings as
the summer progresses.

That's why residents say the
neighborhood needs to find solutions to
curb the violence, before anymore lives

opening fire in a Louisiana church say

he had "domestic trouble" in the past.

25-year-old Anthony Bell is behind
bars this morning after being arrested
on five counts of murder.

Police say Bell opened fire just as
Sunday services were ending at a Baton
Rouge church, killing four people.

Bell then reportedly left the
church with his wife and three
children.. allegedly killing his wife
before police captured him at a nearby
apartment complex.

the five miners killed in a weekend
explosion in Kentucky weren't killed by
the initial blast, but died of carbon
monoxide poisoning.

The Harlan County Coroner said two
other miners- who were believed to be
closer to the blast- died of trauma and

In sports, a doctor who performed

surgery on Kentucky Derby winner
Barbaro for five hours yesterday says
the horse's survival is "a coin toss."

Preakness.

Doctor Dean Richardson said the
horse calmly woke up from anesthesia,

injured that severely. It is a terrible
thing that they lost a son and Zach
lost his best friend."

after a deadly shooting in Roanoke over
the weekend.

on five counts of murder.

Police say Bell opened fire just as
Sunday services were ending at a Baton
Rouge church, killing four people.

before police captured him at a nearby
apartment complex.

deadly explosion in an eastern Kentucky

coal mine over the weekend.

Five miners were killed-- three of
them reportedly died of carbon monoxide
poisoning.

Association has received a permit to
operate for the 2006 season -meaning
the lake will be full and everything's
on track for the summer.

But, the future status of the
lake is still up in the air.

For more than a year - the
community has been battling to keep
afloat after a state agency ordered the
group to rebuild its dam or drain the
lake.

Since that time, the state has
passed legislation to allow
low-interest loans to lakes such as
Rainbow Forest, but funding has not

One person was killed, and seven

Thompson died on the front porch.

While police look for the
shooter, the family of TJ Thompson is
searching for answers, and finding them
hard to come by.

Police say Bell opened fire just as
Sunday services were ending at a Baton
Rouge church, killing four people.

apartment complex.

In sports, a doctor who performed
surgery on Kentucky Derby winner

Barbaro for five hours yesterday says
the horse's survival is "a coin toss."

Three people remain hospitalized
after a deadly shooting in Roanoke
early Saturday morning.

22-year-old Timothy Jerome
Thompson was killed and seven others
were injured around after someone
started shooting during a crowded party
in the 16-hundred block of Melrose
Avenue.

No arrests have been made.

A Botetourt County neighborhood
has received a temporary reprieve.

The Rainbow Forest Lake
Association has received a permit to
operate for the 2006 season -meaning
