street was full of police
investigators, and onlookers after an
early morning shooting at this house.
One person was killed, and seven
others injured around three in the
morning after someone started shooting
during a crowded party.
22-year-old Timothy Jerome
Thompson died on the front porch.
While police look for the
shooter, the family of TJ Thompson is
searching for answers, and finding them
hard to come by.

repairs, the levees in New
Orleans could still be vulnerable to
hurricanes. That warning is one of
several eye-opening conclusions in a
new independent report out today.

five private businesses and 2
government agencies say human error,
costing cutting pressures and turf
battles all led to the levee failures
and loss of life during Hurricane
Katrina. They believe the massive
repairs undertaken by the Army Corps
of Engineers will help, but the
researchers say some areas are still
not
properly re-enforced.

conducted an investigation into the
levee failure. Their report is due
June 1st and is expected to differ
significantly .. focusing on design
flaws.. And a system that was simply
overwhelmed.

season begins and today the nation's
top forcasters came out with their
predictions.

State troopers say the van they were
riding in ran off Interstate 65 south

Montgomery and overturned. Walker's

1960.

buying Kings Dominion and other parks
owned by C-B-S.
Cedar Fair is buying Paramount Parks
for almost one and a quarter BILLION
dollars in cash.
C-B-S has been looking to sell its
parks business, which didn't fit in
with its media holdings.
In addition to Kings Dominion
outside Richmond, the other parks
are King's Island near Cincinnati,
Carowinds near Charlotte, Great
America in Santa Clara, California, and
Canada's Wonderland, near
Toronto.

miles, and has been training regularly.

18 year old girls division, but the
Fullerton, California native shot a 78
on the third round was out of the hunt
as things were winding down.
Her struggles created a great
opportunity for UVA bound Whitney
Newhauser, a senior at Monticello high
school.
A Virginian hasn't won the girls
division in nearly 15 years, and all
Neuhauser had to do was par one of the
final two holes to win.
But her tee to green game put her
in a couple bad spots on the final two
holes and she ended up bogeying the
final two.
That opened the door for Isabelle
Lendl who began the day six shots out
of the lead, and wasn't in the final
grouping with Neuhauser.
Isabelle's final round of 68 was
good enough to get her into a sudden
death playoff. And when Newhauser
again found herself in the rough - The
middle daughter of tennis great Ivan
Lendl capitalized parring the first
playoff hole for the win, while
Neuhauser bogeyed her third straight.

recreated a stunt he first did three
decades ago, over Ohio's Chagrin Falls.

Ted Batchelor lit himself on fire
before taking the plunge.
He performed the exact same stunt 30
years ago to the day.
About a thousand people looked on, as
Batchelor burned for about a minute.
He pulled the stunt ten years in a
row, beginning in 19- 76, and then took
a 20- year break.
Now-- just like then-- he was
immediately arrested and fined after
getting out of the water.
