The deaths of six people in northern
Indonesia is causing a ripple

effect around the world. That's
because the family members died of bird

flu....and doctors from the World
Health Organization believe it could

have come from direct contact with
another human.

sot: Peter Cordingley/World Health

Organization spokesman

"We have a team down there and they
can't find an animal source for this

infection and that worries us."

It happened in north Sumatra where
family members had been caring for a

sick child in an area where numerous
cases of bird flu have appeared.

sot: Cordingley again

"Indonesia at the joment has a very
serious problem with this virus."

Most cases of bird flu are spread from
poultry, but doctors say there

are documented cases of humans
spreading the deadly virus to each
other.

In this case...investigators are
relieved that so far the flu is

contained within the same family.

(bridge)drew levinson/united nations

Doctors from the World Health
Organization--a united nation's

agency--point out that human to human
transmission does NOT mean the

virus has mutated to a form easily
spread among people.. Meaning.. This

is not the beginning of a worldwide
pandemic.

Here in the U.S....no one is taking any
chances. At this lab in Ames,

Iowa scientists will immediately go on
high alert the minute an infected

bird lands on American soil.

sot: Ron Morgan/National Veterinary

Services

"I think we are very ready if this
happens."

If samples of the deadly virus are
found in this country...it will be up

to this lab to diagnose it and stop it.

Since 2003, more than 100 people have
died abroad from the bird flu and

there's world-wide concern those
numbers will rise drastically if more

isn't done to stop this deadly virus.

Khadijah just went through three
days of intense tryouts this past
weekend, in which the field of 38
players was cut down to 18.

In July, Khadijah and the other
17 finalists will get back together for
another training camp.

That's when the team will be pared
down to a dozen players, who will
compete in Mexico City in August.

What makes Ryan's Tenure even
more impressive is that she is going on

28- year- old Luke Trerice's home has
been transformed into a human- sized
hamster cage.

It's a lifesized replica complete
with shredded paper and a beach ball
for his enjoyment.

The home makeover is actually
payback for a practical joke Trerice
played on his friend, when he wrapped
the man's apartment in aluminum foil.

The best part of Trerice's new home--
a six- foot exercise wheel mounted to
