GRAPHIC=BAM As Darrell Waltrip's career was

winding down - the former king of the
Coke 600 at Charlotte failed to qualify
for the race in 2000.

Afterwards his sponsor at the
time worked out a cash deal with Carl
Long to take over his spot in the race
and get ole DW in it.

Now, six years later, his younger
brother Michael Waltrip has done the
same thing.

ENG#=4 VO-NAT

VO-NAT Waltrip failed to go fast enough

during last night's time trials as his
NAPA Dodge missed making the race.

Today NAPA bought the their way
in by taking the number 74 Dodge that
Derrike Cope got into the race last
night.

The car will be repainted with
the NAPA paint scheme.

Had Cope not agreed to give uphis
spot, it would have marked the first
time since 1975 that a Cup race did not
include a Waltrip in the field.
