arrest in a fatal shooting last
weekend.
57-year-old Wallace Fisher turned
himself in to police Friday night.

public nuisance in connection with last
Saturday's shooting at a house party on
Melrose Avenue.
One person died, and seven others
were injured.
Police say Fisher was running a
"nip joint" out of the house off of
Melrose.
25-year-old Jason Donnell
Roberson has been charged with murder.
He was also injured in the
shooting.
Police say more arrests may come.

six-point-three earthquake.

Most people might think of
Memorial Weekend as a time for water
sports, but not the skiers up at Mt.
Hood, Oregon

VO NAT The snowy winter that produced
well above average snow pack on the
mountain has shown no signs of giving
way to summer.
Five inches of fresh snow fell
ysterday. The ski season at Mt. Hood
Meadows has already been one for the
record books. The resort says it will
stay open as long as the skiers stay
interested and as long as it keeps
snowing. The unofficial close date is
set for July 4th.

VO NAT The 2006 hurricane season begins
this week. As many communities across
the atlantic basin prepares, so is NOAA
and the National Hurricane Center.
GOES-13 was launched this week. The
government's latest satellite is
designed to help hurricane forecasters
more accurately predict hurricanes path
and movement. It's just one of 170
million dollars spend on improving the
agency. Others include additional
forecasters, new bouys and a brand new
P3 Hurricane Hunter Aircraft.
The agency admits they had been
lagging behind in upgrades over the
past few years, and the improvements
are a step in the right direction.

arrest in a fatal shooting last
weekend.
57-year-old Wallace Fisher turned
himself in to police Friday night.

public nuisance in connection with last
Saturday's shooting at a house party on
Melrose Avenue.
One person died, and seven others
were injured.
Police say Fisher was running a
"nip joint" out of the house off of

25-year-old Jason Donnell
Roberson has been charged with murder.
He was also injured in the
shooting.
Police say more arrests may come.

to celebrate and remember Memorial Day.

Every year members of Rolling
Thunder lay a wreath at the tomb of the
unknowns- this year was no exception.
Tens of thousands of Vietnam era
bikers are expect in D.C. this weekend
to honor prisoners of war and combat
troops still listed as missing in
action.
They weren't the only group
paying tribute this weekend - the
"flying tigers" were at Arlington
National Cemetry to lay a wreath.
The rag-tag team of pilots flew
old, shabby planes and kept defeating
Japan's larger, more well-equipped air
force during World War Two.

Vintage aircrafts took to the
skies over Addison, Texas as part of
the Memorial Day tradition.
The "Warbirds Over Addison"
display is part of a salute to fallen
heroes by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum.

also on hand to share their stories.
"Warbirds Over Addison" runs
through Monday.

"Decoration Day" -- created to honor
Union soldiers that died during the
civil war.
After World War One it was
expanded to included anyone who served
in America's military.
The name Memorial Day didn't
become common until after World War Two
-- and became the official name in the
60's.
