As News 7 was first to report, Linda
Weber has decided to retire.

The announcement was made tonight
during a special session of the school
board.

Weber's decision comes after she took
a sixty day leave of absence because of
a petition asking her to resign.

Parents in the Cave Spring Community
were angry over the firing of the
athletic director and the constant
delays of the new athletic fields.

The school board chairman says Weber
will be surely missed in the school
system.

Hidden Valley vs. Jefferson Forest The quarterfinal showdown was :00 held in Forest and Hidden Valley wasted
little time getting on the board.

Top of the first, the first
batter of the night - senior Daniel
Gills rips rope down the left field
line and sends one to the fence. He
opens things up with a standup double.

Gills would come home when Adam
Tucker hit this line drive over the
second baseman's head into right. The
Titans take a one to nothing lead.

JF would battle back and take the
lead as Ryan Litz rips a solo homer
into the parking lot in the third. *CG final Hidden Valley
5 But it wouldn't be enough as the Jefferson Forest Titans come back to take the 5-to-3 win 3 and advance to the semi-finals Thursday REGION III QUARTERFINALS night at Calfee Park in Pulaski.

When they take the field Abbie
Rexrode will be the pitcher on the
mound and she carries with her an 83
and a third innings scoreless streak.
Rexrode is just a sophomore, 1 of 6
that starts for John Shotwell's team.
She started as a freshman a season ago
when they lost in the first round of
the Regionals.

Rexrode gives much of the credit
for her success to her defense for the
impressive streak. But it's not
something that she thinks about while

on the mound.
