HERE is the risk...captured by a police
surveillance camera.

(VO: crash again in slow motion)

A sport utility vehicle...edges off the
road...swerves...and then

violently rolls over multiple times.
It happens all too often.

(GRAPHIC . 1)

More than 10-thousand people die each
year in rollover crashes...and

passengers in SUVS face a much HIGHER
risk -- sport utility vehicles

roll over TWICE as often as passenger
cars.

(SOT/CLARENCE DITLOW, CENTER FOR AUTO

SAFETY)

(08 36 35) "It's a matter of simple
physics. The center of gravity is

higher, it's narrower and it's more
likely to get into a situation where

that center of gravity is going to
rollover."

(VO: GRAPHIC .2)

SUVs are getting better. In new
stability tests 42% of SUVs ...earned

four out of five safety stars. That's
up from only 34 percent...which

got four stars last year.

(VO:)

The Chevrolet HHR....the Subaru B9
Tribeca...the Hyundai Tucson...and

Suzuki Grand Vitara all rated four
stars.

Other popular models like the Ford
Explorer...Nissan Xterra...and the

Jeep Commander scored just three stars.

Many SUVs...like like Chrysler
Pacifica...now are being built lower to

the ground -- making them less likely
to tip. Increasingly automakers

are equipping SUVs with stability
control systems.

And former regulator Phil Recht...says
automakers are being pressured by

consumers now armed with the rollover
ratings.

(SOT/PHIL RECHT, FORMER NHTSA DEPUTY)

(14 12 18) It's a simple way to
communicate how well a vehicle does in

a particular crash and to communicate
how safe one vehicle is compared

to another."

(VO CLOSE:)

But, despite improvements no SUV yet
gets the government's top rating of

five stars. When it comes to
rollovers...even the SAFEST sport
utility

vehicle is no better than an AVERAGE
car. Bob Orr, CBS News,

When they take the field, Abbie
Rexrode will be the pitcher on the
mound.

She carries with her an 83 and a
third innings scoreless streak.
Rexrode is just a sophomore, 1 of 6
that start for John Shotwell's team.

She started as a freshman a season
ago when they lost in the first round
of the Regionals.

Rexrode gives much of the credit
to her defense for the impressive
streak.

But it's not something that she
thinks about while on the mound.

The Course had several
improvements made.

Every Single Green was replaced,
with major renovations being done to 6
of the putting surfaces.

They also re-did all of the bunkers
on the course, as well as re-did 8 of
the tee-boxes.

The new tee-boxes added length to
the course for the Championship Tees,
as well as shortened the lay-out for
the Women.

Also added in the project-- a new
practice green.

Now that everything is completed,
it's time to tee it up.

All the changes to the golf
course will make the entire round of
golf more enjoyable.

The main focus was the greens that
had become a problem.

Now that the renovations have been
completed, the difference should be

very noticeable.
