jmcleod@wdbj7.com The school board chairman was a
little more forthcoming.
Mike Stovall says Meck was terminated
because of information the school
district received today.
He would not elaborate, saying it's a
personnel matter.
ENG#=1 VO-NAT
VO-NAT Meck has been in the headlines for
months when he resigned from the school
system after he was told his contract
as Cave Spring's athletic director
would not be renewed next year.
His dismissal as A-D touched off
months of controversy over
superintendent Linda Weber.
Meck told us back in March he was let
go because he complained about the
constant delays of the new athletic
fields at Cave Spring.
Just this week, Meck confirmed to
News 7 that he had re-applied for his
job at Cave Spring but he also had
another job lined up and that he
planned on taking that.
Sources tell us that job is at
Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria.
LIVE=Justin Full/BAM LIVE FULL
We also understand this Saturday the
Cave Spring community plans to hold a
farewell celebration for Meck at the
school.
I contacted several organizers of the
event, they have not returned my phone
calls so it's unclear if the
celebration will go on as scheduled.
DOUBLE BOXES=Natasha & Justin/BAM DOUBLE BOXES
Natasha, we don't know exactly why
Meck was fired today but several
sources close to the situation tell us
it has nothing to do with athletic
fields.

Bobcats vs. Highlanders Glenvar faced a tall order in the

season.
Radford was already up 1-nil when
Lori Gerlach gets the ball to Nikki
Greco who puts home her second goal of
the night to give the Bobcats a 2-oh
cushion at halftime.
Early in the second half, Lilli
Benck centers the ball for Radford and
*CG final Radford it bounces around in front before

Bruins vs Cavaliers They were locked up in scoreless
tie after the first half against the
Cavaliers due mostly to the play of
Ashley Russell in goal who made a
number of big saves to keep zero's on
the scoreboard.
In the second half the Bruins
would finally break through as Megan
Rhodes would find the back of the net
on a nice cross for the games first
goal.
