of Stephanie Bennett spent another
summer day on the Mariners Landing Golf
Course in honor and loving memory of
Stephanie Bennett.

Bennett was 23 years old when she
was strangled to death in her Raleigh,
North Carolina apartment more than four
years ago.

It wasn't until last October that
Raleigh police arrested Drew Planten
for Stephanie's murder.

But before the Bennett's could
hear any explanations for the suspected

himself inside his Raleigh jail cell.

There are 124 golfers
participating and about 163 hole
sponsors.

That means the Stephanie Bennett
Scholarship, awarded to a Franklin
County High School student each year

will double from 25-hundred dollars, to
five-thousand next year.

And as the scholarship grows, so
does the ability of the Bennett family
to move past their loss.

Tony Stewart and his broken shoulder
blade at lap 39. Rudd wound up 25th

the same today after a nudge from David
Stremme. He recovered to finish 6th.

Kevin Lepage blew an engine at
lap 300. There were just 3 cautions in
the first 265 laps but 5 yellows waved
over the next 40.

Jamie McMurray led most of the
final 90 laps on his 30th birthday, but
he couldn't celebrate, giving up the
lead to his teammate Kenseth with just
three to go. Kenseth held on for the
win. Kevin Harvick came home third.
