It wasn't until last October that

The Star City Greyhound Rescue
brought these greyhounds to Pet Smart
this afternoon in Roanoke. The
volunteers are trying to find these
dogs a new home.
Organizers believe folks may have
the wrong impression of these former
race dogs, which keep the animals from
getting adopted.

About 60 to 70 greyhounds are
adopted each year through the Rescue.
But organizers hope to spread the
word about the true nature of the race
dog, so those numbers will continue to
rise.
