The town's planning commission
will review the proposal tonight.

could begin as early as next week.
And yesterday, members of city
council received a look at what could
replace the Roanoke landmark.

proposing a complex of athletic fields
for soccer and lacrosse.

The movie was filmed two years

GRAPHIC=Accident A nine year old boy was hit by a
vehicle in Roanoke on Friday afternoon.
The accident happened around 4:30
in the 1500 block of Wise Avenue, South
East.
The boy was taken to Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital for
treatment.
The driver, 19-year-old Matthew
William Haw-ley, of Goodview has not
been charged.
Police say the investigation is
ongoing.

serious condition following a hit and
run.
The incident occured around
midnight last Thursday.
Police say Keeda Anita Dudley was
hit by a dark color sedan at the
intersection of 19th street and
Patterson Avenue.
The vehicle stopped briefly, then
fled the scene.
It was last seen turning onto
20th street, headed toward Rorer
Avenue.

Gaskins was at a community

to address the gang issue in Roanoke.
The forum was held in response to

won't include vendors' stalls in the
middle of market street.

VO-NAT A recent study suggested the
relocation of the farmer's market from
benches along the sidewalk to an island
in the center of the street, but
council members said they have heard
vendors' objections.
They also said they support short
-term improvements to address other
immediate issues, including the repair
or replacement of damaged awnings.
Planning will continue on other
improvements, including a stepped-
plaza near the pedestrian bridge, and a
possible re-design of the city market
building.
