Griffey Junior had homered in every
major league park EXCEPT the new Busch
Stadium.

It didn't take long for Griffey to
change that. In his first game in the
stadium Griffey tied the major league
record of homering in his 43rd major
league stadium.

The home run put the Reds up 3-to-2.

The Cards would battle back and would
lead 7-to-5 in the top of the ninth.

With two people on base, Griffey
would strike again with his tenth home

run of the season.

The Reds would go on to win it 8-to-7.

In Lexington Griffey was switch hitting
on the golf course to help out the
College Orientation Workshop Program.

The C-O-W summer program is held
in Lexington at the Virginia Military
Institute for at-risk Minority Male
Students in High school. It includes
Academic Instruction, physical
training, Counseling, and Self-esteem
Development based on the V-M-I
Educational mold. The Program was
founded by Gene Williams 20 years ago.

C-O-W Golf tournament fund-raiser, one

of the golfers was Rich Borden who
played with his 2 sons. Borden who is
from the Bronx is a graduate of the
program.
