one plant left in Virginia.

The company announced today it is
shutting down its facility in Roanoke,
taking with it hundreds of jobs.

declining sales for quite awhile.

In fact, employees have been on a 35
hour work week for nearly three years,
so many saw the writing on the wall.

Hooker Furniture has owned the plant

located in Southeast Roanoke since
1981.

Currently, it makes executive office
furniture and home theater cabinets.

The reason for the plant's closure
is simple: a declining demand for its
wood furniture made in the U.S.

now all be done at its facility in
Martinsville.

Lynchburg was chosen for its

state's winningest collegiate coach in
the 70's and 80's. After a stop at
Coastal Carolina as Athletic Director,
Green was the head hoops coach at

Now Green hopes to work his
magic at Virginia Western Community
College, where the first order of
