guilty to shooting and killing Jessee
and Elizabeth Kendrick in their
Danville home before shooting Archie
Moore who's body was found inside a
nearby apartment.

Given the nature of those crimes,
Governor Kaine said in a statement, he
has no reason to doubt the judge's
decision that death was an appropriate
sentence.

Since his trial, Walton's
attorneys have argued that he suffers
from schizophrenia and is mentally ill.

It is unconstitutional to execute
someone who's mentally incompetent and
since some courts have struggled with
the question of Walton's mental
capacity, Kaine says he'd like to have
his current mental state evaluated.

He says proceeding with the
execution or granting clemency would be
"imprudent" without further review.

manager faced some scary moments, after
a man robbed the place, then forced her
into the trunk of a car

It happened early Sunday morning
at Shakers Restaurant.

The manager was leaving the store
when a man grabbed her and forced her
back inside.

The victim believes the man had a
gun and he stole money.

When he was finished he forced
the woman into the trunk of a car.

She was eventually able to get
out of the truck and she ran to a
nearby business for help.

a Montgomery County murder trial, after
it took a full day to pick the jury.

September 2005 Eight woman and five men will :00 ultimately decide if Livingston "Bud"
Pritchett is guilty of robbery and
first-degree murder.

Investigators say Pritchett shot
and killed Estel Singleton at the
Ironto rest stop in 1997.

This is Pritchett's third trial.

He was sentenced to life in

prison in 1999, but that conviction was
overturned by the State Supreme Court.

Pritchett's second trial, last
September, ended in a mistrial after a
jury deadlocked.

A judge will decide what happens

named to the first team. Doolittle was
11 and 2 on the mound and tied for the
team lead in R-B-I's with 57 at the

their season will come to an end this

The Vikings are the suprise team

left in the Final Four at the Double
"A" level. Northside won the Regular
season Blue Ridge Title before falling
in the District Tournament to
Alleghany. Since then they haven't
lost and will take on Tunstal at 2
o'clock tommorrow at Calfee Park in
Pulaski.

stride tommorrow at Radford but they
did hand out some hardware this
afternoon at Radford and Virginia Tech
in the Single and Double "A" division
of Boys and Girls Singles Tennis.

Played both the Semi-Finals and
Finals and unfourtunately not a good
day for the area kids.

At the Double "A" Level Ed Arsura
from Hidden Valley lost in the
Semi-Finals as did Lauren Billingsly
from Blacksburg.

In Single "A" action Malik Mubeen
from Radford and Sherri Thornton from
Glenvar advanced to the Finals both
maintaining their unbeaten records on
the year. But they couldn't keep the
zero in the loss column, both coming up
just 1 match short of a state
championship losing in straight sets.

use the Football Field isn't, but soon
will be. One of those practicing in
Blacksburg will be Vince Hall who has
been put on Watch, that is Watch for
the Nagurski Award given to the Nations
top defender. Hall was named to the
Nagurski Watch list today. The Man
from Cheasapeke will be a Red-shirt
Junior for the Hokies this up-coming
season and has started for the past 2
years at Inside Linebacker for Bud
Foster's Defense.

Marcus Hamilton who is one of the few
upperclassmen in Cavaliers secondary.
Hamilton led the entire A-C-C with 6

Motorsports to explore other

22 year old has made 90 career Cup
starts without a win. Vickers does
have 3 poles and 6 top five finishes.
