:00 This because they may have an
open seat in the number 25 car.

Brian Vickers who has been
driving in the cup series full-time for
2 plus seasons has asked permission
from Hendrick Motorsports to explore
other opportunities.

Vickers just signed an extension,
but both parties seem to be willing to
go their seperate ways.

The 22-year old has made 90
career Cup starts without a win.

Vickers does have 3 poles and 6
top five finishes.

One of those came last year at
Pocono.

It's a global "football" FRENZY. Soccer
to you and me...The World Cup...a
once-every-four-years phenomenon where

32 top nations slug it out for soccer
supremacy, this time hosted by Germany.
Why should YOU care? SOT - JIMMY

CONRAD/TEMPLE CITY, CA WELL, ONE WE'VE
GOT GREAT LEGS, AND TWO, WE'RE GREAT
LOOKING. SO WE SHOULD HAVE THE WOMEN
WATCHING, NO DOUBT Aside from those --
notable -- qualities -- The U-S also
happens to be one of the best teams in
the world. Ranked FIFTH, as a matter of
fact. Ahead of England, Germany, Italy,
and around 200 other, um, less good
teams. 1:53:12 SOT - LANDON

DONOVAN/REDLANDS, CA IS IT ENTIRELY
ACCURATE? ARE WE THE FIFTH BEST TEAM?
PROBABLY NOT, BUT THE GAMES WE NEED TO
WIN, WE WIN. ON CAMERA BRIDGE: CHARLIE
D'AGATA/HAMBURG, GERMANY YOU MAY BE
WONDERING HOW THE US TEAM CAN BE RANKED
FIFTH IN THE WORLD. CERTAINLY THE REST
OF THE WORLD IS ASKING THAT QUESTION.
BUT THE THING IS, THESE GUYS ARE SOCCER
STUDS, SOME OF THE BEST PLAYERS ON THE
PLANET, WITH HALF THE TEAM PLAYING FOR
EUROPE'S BIG LEAGUES. And they say
they're ready, more than ever, to go
toe-to-toe with anybody. SOT - GREGG

BERHALTER/ENGLEWOOD, NJ WE'RE NOT
INTIMIDATED, YOU KNOW, ONCE THE WHISTLE

BLOWS, IT'S JUST ANOTHER 11 PLAYERS
WE'RE PLAYING AGAINST. They face the
toughest teams right from the start:
the Czech Republic, then Italy...one of
the reasons the US is still considered
a long shot. But the team is pretty
comfortable playing the underdog. SOT -

BRUCE ARENA/HEAD COACH WE'RE READY TO
ROLL THE DICE ON MONDAY AND GIVE IT OUR
BEST SHOT... Their "best shot" could be
lethal -- and if it IS... you can bet
the world...and maybe even
America...will be watching. cd, cbs
