David Blevins was already set to
retire as principal of Hidden Valley

when three county students were accused

At last night's school board work

We brought you Barton's story in
April.

Her complaint and others prompted
the city to look at what accident
victims are charged when their cars are

What they found was a huge
discrepancy among tow truck operators
on the city's response list.

So the City has been looking at a
way to place a cap on pricing, and have
a more consistent list of guidelines.

OQ=std < (END SOT) lobbyists in Richmond, the City of

Roanoke has decided to be able to
control pricing and service, it's going
to have to ditch the current rotating
list of 18 companies that's not
regulated and contract out.

--22:21:24-34 i think it's a good idea,
simplify what we do, because we won't
have to go through the list, find
equipment, dont' have to worry about
declines

22:55:37-46 why does this person pay x
when other person pays y, we need to
create pay equity while being flexible

The flexibility issue concerning the
City's rought draft of a contract, is
what needs a little work. Towers argue
the pricing scale has to be appealing
enough to wake a truck operator up in

the middle of the night to work an
accident.

22:49:51 there are several variants
that this fee structure just doesn't
allow for

22:38:08 the companies that will offer
services at this price are not going to
have the capability to clear the roads
for police

Now, the City has talked to towers in
other communities and some on the list
who argue the fee structure is fair.

And Spencer goes on to say with 2100
wrecker calls a year from dispatch, if
four companies are chosen, and divvy
those calls up, that can make for quite
a profit.

*22:29:43--volume by no means equals
profability

Both sides admit there is a lot of
work ahead but feel they can reach a
balance. The City's hoping to have the
contracts in place by this fall.

recipient should deposit the check and
send a processing fee for receiving the
prize, a million British pounds in this
case.

The problem is, there is no such
thing as the British Random Lotto.

Here are some tips from Virginia
Attorney General Bob McDonnell...

Ignore all mail and phone
solicitations for foreign lottery
promotions. Even if they were really a

lottery from a foreign country, they
violate federal law.

The cross-border sale or purchase
of lottery tickets by phone or mail is
illegal.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

McDonnell says to throw them
away, or give them to your local
postmaster or the Attorney General's
Office to file a complaint.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

Don't fall for the scam of paying
money to get your "winnings."

In the Virginia Lottery, for
example, the only money you have to pay
to get money is the price of the
ticket, plus the cost of a stamp if you
mail in losing tickets for a second
chance drawing.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

Keep your credit card and bank
account numbers to yourself. Scam
artists often ask for them during an
unsolicited sales pitch.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

If you purchase a foreign lottery
ticket, or fall for this sort of scam,
you can expect many more bogus offers
for investment opportunities. Your name

will be placed on "sucker" lists that
fraudulent telemarketers buy and sell.

Notify the Attorney General if
you fear you've fallen prey.

OQ=std < (END SOT) lobbyists in Richmond, the City of

Roanoke has decided to be able to
control pricing and service, it's going
to have to ditch the current rotating
list of 18 companies that's not
regulated and contract out.

--22:21:24-34 i think it's a good idea,
simplify what we do, because we won't
have to go through the list, find
equipment, dont' have to worry about
declines

22:55:37-46 why does this person pay x
when other person pays y, we need to
create pay equity while being flexible

The flexibility issue concerning the
City's rought draft of a contract, is
what needs a little work. Towers argue
the pricing scale has to be appealing

enough to wake a truck operator up in
the middle of the night to work an
accident.

22:49:51 there are several variants
that this fee structure just doesn't
allow for

22:38:08 the companies that will offer
services at this price are not going to
have the capability to clear the roads
for police

Now, the City has talked to towers in
other communities and some on the list
who argue the fee structure is fair.

And Spencer goes on to say with 2100
wrecker calls a year from dispatch, if
four companies are chosen, and divvy
those calls up, that can make for quite
a profit.

But the sentiment is not echoed by
all of the towing community.

*22:29:43--volume by no means equals
profability

Both sides admit there is a lot of
work ahead but feel they can reach a
balance. The City's hoping to have the
contracts in place by this fall.

Here are some tips from Virginia
Attorney General Bob McDonnell...

Ignore all mail and phone

solicitations for foreign lottery
promotions. Even if they were really a
lottery from a foreign country, they
violate federal law.

The cross-border sale or purchase
of lottery tickets by phone or mail is
illegal.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

McDonnell says to throw them
away, or give them to your local
postmaster or the Attorney General's
Office to file a complaint.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

Don't fall for the scam of paying
money to get your "winnings."

In the Virginia Lottery, for
example, the only money you have to pay
to get money is the price of the
ticket, plus the cost of a stamp if you
mail in losing tickets for a second
chance drawing.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

Keep your credit card and bank
account numbers to yourself. Scam
artists often ask for them during an
unsolicited sales pitch.
TAKE NEXT PAGE TAKE NEXT PAGE

If you purchase a foreign lottery
ticket, or fall for this sort of scam,

you can expect many more bogus offers
for investment opportunities. Your name

its formula for the car tax.

Instead of paying five point

loan value, the city is charging its
residents a dollar more per hundred.

They now pay SIX point seven five
percent, and the value is based on the
average retail value of the car.

The Department of Game and Inland
Fisheries is raising license fees by
five dollars.

Fees haven't gone up in nearly
20- years, but the cost of running the
department has.

Virginia law says fees can't be
raised again for another three years.

Starting July first licenses will
also be good for one year after they're
purchased.

Different licenses can also be
printed on the same piece of paper.

Game officials are encouraging
sports- men and women to buy all their
licenses at one time to align their
renewal dates.
