Blacksburg against Minh Tran.. also known as
Kenny, but police are actively
investigating and executed a search
warrant at his nail salon last week.

Nails Salon on Franklin Street in
Christiansburg.
According to a search warrant affidavit
police took 21 VHS tapes and 14 DVD's
from the store's surveillance system.
According to that warrant a 12 year old
girl told police she was
inappropriately touched by Tran at the
Salon.
Police took the video tapes to see if
the alleged touching was caught on
camera and to observe Tran's behavior
in the store.

Tran pleaded guilty to two sexual abuse
charges in 2001. That incident happened
in a nail salon in Pulaski County. He
served 4 months in jail and had a year
of supervised probation.

Christiansburg Police are also
investigating several other complaints
of sexual battery occurring within the
Sky Nails Salon. Two of the allegation
are between March and May of this year.
And according to the warrant, two other
females have also complained of
sexually based assaults that happened 2
to 3 years ago at the salon.>>

We talked to a woman at the Salon
today, who identified herself as Tran's
wife.
She says he did not do this and
would not do this.
And she said quote, "why would he
be dumb enough to do it infront of
video cameras"

Jean, again no formal charges
have been filed, but police say they
are actively investigating and charges
are possible.
JEAN QUESTION: Rachel, back to the 2001
conviction, did Tran's wife say
anything about that?
RACHEL: Jean, she says they did not
understand english very well and they
did not mean to plead guilty to any
crimes.
They didn't understand the legal
system and she says they had their own
witnesses who would have denied that
claim.

GRAPHIC=Murder Investigation In Roanoke, at least ten
different people are still being
investigated in connection with a fatal
shooting on Melrose Avenue.

Last Month Early on the morning of May
20th, one man was killed and seven
people were wounded when gunfire broke
out at a party.
In search warrants, Roanoke
police said DNA evidence was collected
from the scene.
Police now want to compare that
evidence with the DNA of at least ten
people, some of whom were among those
wounded in the shooting.
One man, Jason Donnell Roberson
has already been charged with murder in
the case.
The warrants indicate
police are looking for additional
suspects.

the Brookneal area had feared for
months could now become reality.

announced plans to possisbly close its
Brookneal plant at the end of the
summer.
D-R-I has been trying to sell the
facility for several months but hasn't
found any takers.
If no buyer is found by August
22nd, the company will start closing
down the plant.
Dan River says it needs to trim
production costs in order to survive in
a highly competitive market.
About 280 workers will be
affected.

respects to Katherine "Kitty" Irwin.

File Tape Irwin was a church leader,

Radford University.
But she may be best known for her
impassioned pleas to the court to spare
the life of her daughter's killer.
16-year-old Tara Munsey
disappeared from her job in 2000 and
was found dead two weeks later.
Irwin died Wednesday after a
6-year battle with breast cancer.

We found out about Sophia's
pregnancy when visiting Mill Mountain

Sophia has given birth.
The zoo's director though says
many times panda cubs don't survive
after their born- the first few days
and weeks are touch and go.

auction hit the Bast Center Floor they
were on hand at Hanging Rock Golf
Course for the Golf Portion of the
annual Roy Stanley Memorial.
Many of those on hand whether it
being during their Lunch or their round
of golf were able to tell stories and
remember the man who enjoyed a day on
the golf course as much as anyone.
