to a bomb in Blacksburg.

Officers pulled over a 21-year
old. Janaka Nuwan Kumara Siriwardena
Sear-uh-war-DEEN-uh late Wednesday
night for running a stop sign.

After getting ticketed,
Siriwardena told police there were
people in an apartment on Orchard
street making bombs.

Police got a search warrant and
raided the home around 4:30 yestderday
morning .

They found an explosive device
and a substance that appeared to be
cocaine.

The State Police Bomb Squad
successfully disabled the device.

After investigating, police now

believe Siriwardena Sear-uh-war-DEEN-uh
actually planted the drugs and bomb in
the apartment.

He's being held at the Montgomery
County jail charged with burglary,
manufacturing an explosive device,
possession of cocaine and making a
false police report.

money from the latest state budget to
help overhaul the city's sewer system.

Governor Tim Kaine addressed the
situation during a visit yesterday.

The Hill City is spending close
to 300 million dollars to bring its
sewer and rainwater systems up to
federal standards.

The state has routinely given
money to help that cause, but this year

funded only sewer work in Richmond.

Governor Kaine says he's trying
to find a solution by next week.

night in the first preliminary round

and smarts, the girls are competing to
make it to the top ten who will vie for
the crown tomorrow night.

Whoever wins Miss Virginia will
go on to the Miss America pageant.

To appeal to a younger crowd and
increase ratings, the Miss America
organization has decided to take a
reality show approach to the pageant.

GRAPHIC=Hold Roanoke County residents were


taken by surprise, when Gypsy moths
infested portions of Bent Mountain and
Poor Mountain.

In just two weeks, the insects
have defoliated close to seven thousand
acres, and residents say they are
worried about the impact on their
property.

From a distance, it's easy to see
where the gypsy moth larvae have been
feasting on the trees.

Now near the end of the
caterpillar stage, the larvae are
cocooning, and will emerge as moths in
July or August.

Concerned residents met with

county leaders yesterday morning.

agencies to put together a spraying

received more than 80 thousand dollars
in the state budget.

Greene says the zoo is paying

down debt from the winter when the zoo
is staffed, but visitors don't come
out.

The zoo does have a new cougar,
Nina, new paint, and some other
improvements.

Greene says that's helped bring
more people out.

Harrison Museum would recieve more
state money if it moved.

museum of African American culture
needs to decide whether it can survive
in its current location- -and decide
soon.

The museum is located on Harrison

Avenue, but Ware believes it would be
better served in a place that gets more
foot- traffic.

There's already been discussion
about moving the museum to Center in
the Square.

Ware believes it's an option that
could help the museum thrive.

for space -making it tough for fans of

This was the scene last night-
cars trying to find a spaces, event
staff turning people away and even a
few near misses.

Av's officials estimate the horse

supply even handicapped spots.

But he says a little relief is in

arrested after an internet sting

operation.

50-year-old Gary Lee Adams of
Lynch Station faces three-charges after
Bedford County investigators say he
propositioned a deputy, who was posing
as an underage girl, for sex.

Adams was arrested and is
currently held without bond.
