Officials say the six Americans and

al-Qaida.

But they were dealing with an

old enough to remember what the area

It's nice to juxtapose the

*CG locator Smith Mountain Lake The 40 year celebration continues
Saturday afternoon with the third
annual parade of boats.

The 'Quite Boat Parade' will hit
the water in the morning featuring
kayaks, canoes and other man-powered
vessels.

The 'Powered Boat Parade'
follows.

New this year is the smaller
boating groups of neighborhoods,
businesses , churches and civic
organizations parading in the morning
and early afternoon in various parts of
the lake.

And the members of the Antique

Boat Club will display their vessels at
Parrot's cove from 10AM through noon.

All is free to the public.

The Water Fair is Sunday from
noon-to-5p.m. at the 4-H educational
center.

Fun activities for the kids
include canoeing, kayaking, archery,
miniature golf, and swimming.

All of the events are planned for
the community to celebrate 40 years of
history and enjoy the beauty at Smith
