in a car accident in Franklin County.

17-year-old Joshua Lewis Tolliver
died last night after he was ejected
from the passenger seat of this car.

It happened last night on Route
220, just south of Windy Ridge Road in
Sydnorsville.

According to State Police...the
driver of the car was traveling
southbound, ran off the road, struck a
tree, and then overturned.

The driver, whose name has not
been released, was taken to the
hospital.

Tolliver was not wearing a
seatbelt.

He was pronounced dead at the
scene.

Florida authorities say the boy
was prounounced dead a short time
after riding a roller coaster.

A Sheriff's spokesman though says
they don't know if the call for help
was related to an injury or a medical
conditon.

The boy had just completed a ride
on the Rock "n" Roll roller coaster.
Disney officials say a preliminary
investigaiton indicates the ride was
operating normally.

The ride is now closed...a Disney
website says the ride zooms from zero
to 60 miles an hour with the force of a
supersonic F-14 with high speed loops
and turns.

Hartness replaces former athletic
director Randy Meck, after what has
been a somewhat controversial year at
the Roanoke County high school.

Meck was involved in a dispute

over the delayed construction of the
athletic fields at Cave Spring. After
he resigned as athletic director, he
was abruptly fired and his school
computer was seized.

Hartness hasn't spoken directly
to Meck, but says that the former
athletic director is ready and willing
to help him with the transition.

July race at Daytona in Saturday
night's Pepsi 400.

The July race at the beach also
marks the midpoint of the season and a
