like a house of cards...and more of the
concrete structure came crashing to the
ground....the demolition of Victory
Stadium continued to attract a crowd.
Kevin Landis took it all in from
the seat of his motorbike.

by the time the demolition crew leaves
for a long holiday weekend, the upper
level of the stadium will be history.
And the heavy equipment has been
making progress with the rubble as
well: saving brick, separating metals
for recycling, and hauling piles of
concrete to a private landfill between
Vinton and Stewartsville.
As Jackie Cabiness got his first
look at the stadium demolition, he
wondered where the debris was headed
and how many truckloads it would take.

early next week. And there are other
elements of the stadium that will be

Bricks have been saved for a
monument. Four of the ticket booths
will be preserved. The scoreboard may
be refurbished for the new stadium at
Patrick Henry School, and we're told
each of the high schools is getting a
goal post.

last night.

was ejected from the passenger seat of
a car.

220, just south of Windy Ridge Road in
Sydnorsville.
According to State Police...the
driver of the car was traveling
southbound, ran off the road, struck a
tree, and then overturned.
The driver, whose name has not
been released, was taken to the
hospital.
Tolliver was not wearing a
seatbelt.
The accident is still under
investigation.

wallet at Claytor Lake on May 28th.
A few days later this man was

tested positive for Equine Infectious
Anemia. This chronic disease affects
horses and other equines.
Vets ran Coggins tests on the
infected horses after the owner noticed
one of them had unexplained weight
loss. Both horses had to be euthanized
to prevent the spread of the disease.
Seven horses within a one-mile
radius of the infected horses have also
been tested. Their results are
pending.
