The zoo has been closed since
Sunday, but officials plan to reopen it
this morning.
This is the zoo's busiest season,
but they say the money lost from the
closures will have minimal effect on
business.
This is the first time an animal
has ever escaped the zoo, but officials
say these situations are NOT uncommon.

of Victory Stadium, the city of Roanoke
will be distributing bricks.

Wednesday Since a Richmond contractor began
the demolition process last week,
they've been cleaning bricks and
setting them aside for distribution.
City residents can pick them up
in the stadium parking lot on Saturday
July 8th from Nine AM to noon, and
again Thursday, July 13th from Five to
Seven P-M.
Non- residents can pick up any
remaining bricks Thursday between Seven
and Nine P-M.
The city is imposing a limit of
four bricks per car.

do with the property.

currently an amphitheatre feasibility

electing its first woman as mayor in
200 years.

Joan Foster edged out Joe Seiffert
SEE-fert on the second ballot yesterday
morning to head up the seven-member
panel.
She'd been serving as ACTING mayor
since Carl Hutcherson stepped down
after his federal fraud convictions.
Foster is just the third woman
ever to serve on Lynchburg city
council, and the first as mayor.
Bert Dodson was selected vice
mayor.

whether or not alcohol was involved in
a deadly Franklin County accident.

off Route 220 near Sydnorsville.
A passenger, Joshua Lewis
Tolliver, was thrown from the vehicle
and killed.

Wednesday Night In a search warrant filed yesterday,
state troopers say the 17-year-old
driver told them he'd been drinking
before the accident.
News-7 is not identifying the
driver because he's a minor, and
because no charges have been filed at
this point.
Another witness told
troopers the car passed her going at
least a hundred miles an hour.

the median of U-S 460.
The National Weather Service came
out to make sure it wasn't a tornado.
After an investigation, officials
ruled it was a microburst....

County were found to have an incurable
viral disease, other horses are being
tested.

These two horses pastured
together for years, but their owners
decided to put them down so horses
nearby didn't get the disease.
Both tested positive for Equine
(E-quine) Infectious Anemia after blood
samples were submitted to the
Wytheville Regional Animal Health
Laboratory.
These pictures show some of the
symptoms of E-I-A, which include a slow
down of the heart.
A doctor says no other horses
tested positive for E-I-A.
The disease does not affect
humans or any other animals.
It is transmitted between horses
by body secretions.
