There's a major traffic tie up on

Interstate 81 this afternoon.

An accident has closed the
SOUTHBOUND lanes at Mile Marker 134,
just South of Salem.

State Police and VDOT are working
to get the lanes open. In the
meantime, traffic is being re-routed at
exit 137. Troopers say you may want to
avoid the area alltogether.

Last Night There was a deadly accident on
Northbound interstate 81 last night.

State Police say
34-year-old Jose Rigoberto Ortega
Chavez of Roanoke was killed when the
car he was riding in hydroplaned, and
hit the guardrail.

It happened in the
northbound lanes of I-81 near Dixie
Caverns in Roanoke County.

Troopers say two other men
in the car were injured.

The driver was charged with
reckless driving and driving without a
valid license.

Troopers also say the tires
on the car were bald, which may have
contributed to the accident.

GRAPHIC=Murder Investigation Radford Police have arrested a

women in connection with a fatal
shooting.

Around 7:20 last night,
authorities responded to a call in the
400 block of Davis Street-- that a man
was lying beside a vehicle, bleeding
and yelling for help.

The victim's been identified as
39 year old Ken Henry of Tennessee.

He was later pronounced dead at
the New River Valley Medical Center

Police have arrested 22 year old
Kelly McKenzie Lance of Radford.

She is charged with first degree
homicide, and use of a firearm in
commission of a felony.

Police are still investigating.

GRAPHIC=Shooting Danville Police are investigating

a fatal shooting.

Officers responded to the 100
block of North Avenue in Danville and
found a man lying near the home's
doorway.

A resident told police that four
armed men forced open the front door
and tried to come inside.

The resident fired several shots
at the intruders, striking at least
one.

The man who was shot was taken to
Danville Regional Medical Center where
he later died.

His name has not been
released.

after an empty train- car derailment.

The derailment caused delays of up
to 30 minutes.

Ten nearby homes remain evacuated.

One car was a tanker carrying

evacuated, while the derailed cars are

collapsed at the end of the Winston
all-star race at the Lowe's Motor
Speedway.

The company that built the bridge

way in China to separate twin baby
girls joined at the stomach.

Officials say afte two hours of
surgery, the conjoined twins' liver
system was separated.

The girls, who were born last
August, share a liver, spleen and
gallbladder, and were suffering from
heart disease.

Doctors hope the operation will

either will survive.

weekend looks beautiful for Beachgoers.
I'm Brent Watts.

First off, to the Maryland/Virginia
Beaches. Perhaps you're going down to
the Mid-Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge
at Virginia Beach this Saturday. If
you're not racing your crustacean, you
can certainly take in the sunshine,
with mostly sunny skies expected this
weekend, with highs in the low and mid
80s. Water temperatures in the upper
70s.

As you travel south toward the Outer
Banks, highs reach the low 80s on
Saturday, but climb into the mid and
upper 80s by Sunday.

Perhaps you're heading to Wilmington to
take in the sights and sounds of the
harbor, or even tour the historic
battleship.

Sunny skies expected in both Wilmington
and Myrtle Beach through the weekend.
High should reach the mid 80s with
water temperatures around 80.

The tropics look quiet so far, so no
major worries there, make it a safe
weekend. I'm Brent Watts with your

physicals.

His son Thomas Keeley worked at

And both of his sons are scouts
as well...something he believes is more
important now than it ever was.
