celebration in the New River Valley.

Calfee Park turns 70 this year
and tonight the Pulaski Blue Jays threw
the old yard quite a party as the home

Devil Rays vs. Blue Jays Fans were treated to birthday :00 cake upon entering the stadium, and
those involved in Calfee's rennovation
in 1999 were recognized on the field.

The Jays gave the home crowd

plenty to cheer about. In the first,
Joshua Lex gets walked with the bases
loaded forcing Luis Fernandez in from
third base with the first run for
Pulaski.

Still in the first, Victor
Santana chops one to the shortstop who
can't make a play. Wes Stone crosses
the dish tying the game at 2 apiece. *CG final Princeton
3 With the bases still juiced, Pulaski Heliezer Aguilar smacks one to the 9 right side of the infield. The D-Rays
can't turn the double play as two runs
score thanks to the overthrow at first.
Pulaski went on to win it 9 to 3.

Nationals vs. Avalanche The Avalanche rapped out 10 hits :00 on the night, including this one from
Francisco Caraballo who doubles to
left. But despite the good wood, Salem
only scored a single run in this one.

The Avs played pretty good 'd'
as well. Jimmy Barthmaier makes the
nice play on the Trey Webb comebacker

to get the out.

But Potomac's *CG final Potomac offense couldn't be held down for the 5 entire night. Luke Montz cranks a shot Salem off the wall in deep left field, good 1 for two RBI's. The P-Nats went on to
beat the Avs 5 to 1.

:00 It was a near perfect afternoon
for baseball at Kiwanis Field.

Runs were tough to come by for
the home team in this one. The West
managed only three hits in the contest.

The East led 1-oh thru 5 and
added some insurance in the 6th.

Robbie Newman smokes this pitch to deep
right field and off the wall, scoring
Brandon Shelton and it was a 3-run
cushion.

The West avoided the shutout on
the Mickey White RBI single thru *CG final East the hole at short that plated Jeff 3 Jefferson. But that was it. The East West won it 3-1.

scholarship offers from Frank Beamer
and his Hokies staff.

The players got in some testing,
drills and one on one time with the
coaches.

Perhaps the biggest name on
hand, at least from within the state,
was Tyrod Taylor, the highly sought
after quarterback from Hampton who led
the Crabbers to the Three A state title
last season, accounting for 32 TD's.
He's rated the 18th overall prospect in
the country, and hasn't been
overwhelmed by the recruiting process,
narrowing his choices to Tech and
Florida.

:00 get dicey in the USG Sheetrock 300.
Denny Hamlin went around on the very

first of nine caution flags.

Casey Mears was out front when

restart with 28 laps to go and gambling
on fuel to the finish. He made it to
the checkers but ran out of gas on his
way to victory lane. It mattered
little to the nephew of Rick Mears who
