County sends a three-year-old girl to
the hospital.

State police say the girl was
riding on a dirt bike with her
17-year-old uncle, when the front tire

slipped and they fell over.

Police say the little girl hit
her head on the ground and was taken to
Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The boy was not harmed.

Because the incident occurred on
private property, no report or charges
will be filed.

didn't go quite as well -- at a
carnival in Minnesota yesterday

door in one of the compartments swung
open as it was spinning, dropping two
teenage girls about 25 feet. Onlookers
were shocked as they saw the accident

today in Aspen, Colorado.

the Roanoke County teenager who stabbed
his grandmother to death, upset at
least one viewer:

"I was appalled to see that the
coverage of the Jamison murder trial
included the audio of the 911 call as
well as the detective's recount of the
murder," Leigh Spangler of Vinton
wrote.

"I feel that the inclusion of the audio
portion of the trial in the news
broadcast was completely unnecessary.

This is already a shocking and
disturbing story without the addition
of the audio. While I agree that it is
the station's right to report the news,
I believe the station should have been
more sensitive to the family and
friends of the victim and the accused."

My two-part report on Virginia's
controversial marriage amendment
brought this response from Mark Estes
in Pulaski County:

"The new law is designed to remove
rights from gay and straight couples
living together as if they were
married. This law would hurt everyone
except married couples, and would force
straight couples to marry if they want
to keep the same rights they have now,
as in entering into contracts together,
opening joint bank accounts, or health
benefits that some companies in
Virginia give to couples living
together that are not married."
