While investigators believe it was a

New York's commissioner says it
could have been a whole lot worse.

As Bianca Solorzano tells us, it's

GRAPHIC=Nextel Cup Earlier this year, Jeff Gordon

and Matt Kenseth sparked controversy at
Bristol.

The 17 and 24 cars were again in
close proximity to one another in the
closing laps of the U-S-G Sheetrock 400
in Chicago.

TNT South Boston's Jeff Burton was :00 the pole sitter, leading 60 laps
yesterday, before settling for a 2nd
place finish.

Kenseth dominated the latter
half of the race in search of his 3rd
win this season.

But he slowed ever so briefly with
four laps to go.

Gordon tapped his bumper, sending
Kenseth on the carousel and out of
contention.

Gordon held on to take the
checkers for his second win of the
season, and first at Chicagoland.

OQ=CBS News < (END SOT) have made the celebrations in Rome all

the sweeter, but that isn't what the
sporting world is talking about this
morning. (winning goal and Italian team
celebrating) Even the winning goal in
the penalty shoot-out that decided the

game has been largely forgotten.
(French miss) As has the missed shot
that sealed France's fate. (Build up to
and head Zinadine butt) What the world
is talking about is this incident
involving the French superstar and
sporting icon Zinadine Zidane. This,
his final game before retirement, was
supposed to be the crowning glory for a
player who had risen from immigrant
working-class roots to become the toast
of his country. Then -- provoked by a
comment from an Italian player -- this
happened. (Head Butt). (red card/Zidane
walking off) Zidane was summarily
ejected from the game -- an ignominious
and shocking end to a glorious career.
(Italian team holding trophy with
fireworks/Italian crowds doing nuts)
World Cups may only have a cult
following in the United States but
they're an obsession in the rest of the
sporting world and they always seem to
turn on some moment of high drama. What
this year's competition lacked in pure
soccer thrills it made up for in
pathos. While they scratch their heads
in bewildered sadness in France, The
party in Italy went on all night long.

It's a party, though, that will have a
sober morning after. Italian courts are
expected to rule this week on a match
fixing scandal that will likely see
some of the country's top clubs demoted
to lower or minor leagues. Italian fans
will have to enjoy this while it lasts.

His site draws two million visitors

He and his mother are on loan to
National Zoo from China, but Tai Shan's
success has encouraged the zoo expand
this fall and double the size of its
