through Virginia's capital city.

As trains got bigger though, the
tunnel became obsolete.

That's why on October 2nd, 1925,
men were working to expand it on a
sunny day- with no sign of danger.

Cemetary North.

cemetery off of Main Street was known

County has left one man dead.

It happened on Craig Valley Drive
around 1:30 yesterday afternoon.

Twenty-five-year-old Caney
Jeramiah Ramsey of North Carolina was

motorcycle at high speed when he ran

off the road -- hitting a telephone
wire and some trees.

The Roanoke Star will go dark for at
least a month. The city will spend
nearly a hundred thousand dollars
completely upgrading the electrical
system. The work should begin next
month and will be completed by October.

ENG#2 Appalachian Power hopes the third

time's a charm for its proposed
substation in eastern Franklin County.
The 138-thousand volt line will serve
residents in Westlake, Penhook and
Blaine. After two unsuccessful
attempts, the company will present its
latest revisions before the planning
commission tonight.

And finally, visitors at Mill Mountain
Zoo yesterday said they were relieved

to hear of Oops the monkey's safe
return. Oops will remain in quarantine
for about a month, but the zoo's
director says he expects her to be
