First some background.
In May, Franklin County
Supervisors passsed a new county-wide
noise ordinance.
It was in response to dozens of
complaints from Smith Mountain Lake
residents who said outdoor concerts at
Mango's Bar and Grill were just too
loud.
Now, the owners of the restaurant
are sending a message to their critics.

That was followed by a sign that

Jean, one neighbor told me she
sees Mango's point about freedom, but

JEAN: Justin, since the noise
ordinance went into affect, has mango's
received any violations?
No Jean, we understand a deputy
has gone by and found noise levels at
times have spiked momentarily above the
allowed level. That's led to several
warning but so far Jean no violations.

The fiber glass statue is part of
the Gobble de Art program.
75 gobblers are currently nesting
all over the town.
Organizers are trying to raise
awareness about the arts, while raising
money for town projects.
But as New River Valley Bureau
Chief Rachel DePompa found out it's not
easy to keep those birds safe.
