Friday A college spokesperson says in a
statement the school installed the
alarms in several of its residence
halls -- as a temporary safety measure
while waiting for a more permanent
system.

One person remains in stable
condition at Lewis-Gale hospital, but
is improving.

And upward bound students who
were on campus during the incident
returned yesterday.

The students were moved into
different residence halls for the
remainder of the program.

In California, nearly four thousand
firefighters are trying to surround the
two big wildfires in San Bernardino
County-- before the flames threaten
more homes.

The fires have already caused more than
eight million dollars in damage.

And while higher humidity has
allowed crews to make good progress,

forecasters are now predicting
thunderstorms-- which could spark more
blazes in the region.
