Investigators in Henry County
spent most of the day looking into a
deadly fire in the Bassett area.

The Sheriff's Department says the
flames on Birkdale Lane were reported
around 2:30 A-M.

Two bodies were found inside.
They've been sent to the medical
examiner's office for identification.

Investigators believe this fire
was started by a frayed electrical

cord.

In Pittsylvania County, a
neighbor spotted flames along
Millsville Lane near Tunstall around
3:15 a.m.

The home was engulfed when
firefighters arrived ... they had it
under control in about 15 minutes.

The two victims were found near the
back of the home.

Investigators haven't released
their names, but friends and neighbors
identify them as Raymond and Lois
Lewis.

Their bodies have been sent to
Roanoke for autopsy.

Members toured three athletic
facilities in Montgomery County to try
and put an end to the stadium debate.

Next month the council will
decide whether or not the school board
can build a new 3-thousand seat
facility off Price's Fork Road.

The stadium would replace the old

before hopping on a bus and checking
out Christiansburg and Eastern

Laguarida Airport interrupted security
screening, triggering delays and
cancellations. The power outage began
Monday night, crews thought it was
fixed, no such luck.

number of subway trains were stopped by

The good news is, the air
conditioning was working and power has

Several people saw the cat
hanging off the roof of the Kent Square
Parking Garage.

Two maintenance men rescued the
furry feline.

They said it had slipped down a
slanted tin roof and got stuck in a
gutter...five stories above ground.

They managed to get it out, but
then the cat darted around the roof and
onto a tiny ledge.

They finally caught the cat and

are keeping it in an empty apartment
until someone claims it or adopts it.
