broke out in Henry and Pittsylvania
counties.

Investigators in Henry County
spent yesterday looking into a deadly
fire in the Bassett area.

The Sheriff's Department says the
flames on Birkdale Lane were reported
around 2:30 yesterday morning.

Two bodies were found inside.

They've been sent to the medical
examiner's office for identification.

Investigators believe this fire
was started by a frayed electrical
cord.

In Pittsylvania County, a

neighbor spotted flames along
Millsville Lane near Tunstall around
3:15 yesterday morning.

The home was engulfed when
firefighters arrived ... they had it
under control in about 15 minutes.

The two victims were found near the
back of the home.

Investigators haven't released
their names, but friends and neighbors
identify them as Raymond and Lois
Lewis.

Their bodies have been sent to
Roanoke for autopsy.

a second suspect in a recent murder
case.

According to a search warrant,
police collected DNA from James Jones
the second.

Earlier this month, 39-year-old
Ken Henry of Tennessee was shot and
killed at the Fairfax Apartments on

Davis Street.

Police charged 22-year-old Kelly
Lance with his murder.

England's employs about 150
people at its current facility.

Its annual sales top 24 million

morning.

Members toured three athletic
facilities in Montgomery County to try
and put an end to the stadium debate.

Next month the council will
decide whether or not the school board
can build a new 3-thousand seat
facility off Price's Fork Road.

The stadium would replace the old
Bill Brown site, which the school board
says it won't renovate.

The council toured the old digs,
before hopping on a bus and checking
out Christiansburg and Eastern

Montgomery High Schools.

It's all because of the Railroad
Street bridge located just off Route
220 in Ridgeway.

The bridge is almost 80-years-old and
is in desperate need of repairs.

V-Dot plans to completely replace the
bridge which will create inconveniences
for drivers.

If approved, the project would
begin in 2008 and would cost more than
four million dollars.

release, but researchers say ideally it
should be 12-degrees to protect the
fish.

Corps officials say they'll have

releases, including money, before

cat hanging off the roof of the Kent
Square Parking Garage.

It had apparently slipped down a
slanted tin roof and got stuck in a
gutter...five stories above ground.

Maintenence men finally caught
the cat and are keeping it in an empty
apartment, until someone claims it or
adopts it.
