The Marines have landed in

Lebanon....the first US boots on that
beach in nearly 23 years.

They withdrew in 1984 after a Muslim
suicide bomber destroyed a barracks

Just after dawn, around 40 Marines
carried women and children to a landing
craft...the first wave of around twelve
hundred Americans to be evacuated
TODAY.

Hundreds more are arriving back home in
the US. The first of several flights
touched down this morning in Baltimore.

car accident early this morning.

No update on his condition- but he

to fix the statue that was recently
vandalized in Blacksburg.

Fred Linkous, who works with
Hodges Trucking in Christiansburg,
heard about the bird's condition and
decided to help.

Last weekend, vandals broke the
bird off its perch and moved it down
the Huckleberry Trail.

The fiber glass statue is part of
the Gobble de Art program.

75 gobblers are currently nesting
all over the town.

Linkous says it will take him
about a week to remold the two toes

broken off.

He's doing the work for free, and
the Blacksburg Partnership is paying
for materials.
