that crashed in eastern Afghanistan's
mountains have been killed.
Officials say at least two U- S

getting a new community center soon
thanks to the Danville Regional Jail
Foundation.
It announced yesterday morning
that it will donate three million
dollars to pay for the project.
The center will be constructed on
a Main Street site currently owned by
Chatham Cares, Inc..
The foundation is awarding a
total of 16.4 million dollars in grants
for area building projects.

Appalachian Power and the

Commission have teamed up to remove
tons of debris settled along the
Blackwater and Roanoke Rivers.
The work began around July 4th,
when a storm blew through the Smith
Mountain lake area -- sending waste

trapped.
So far, workers have managed to
remove more than 120-tons of debris.
The cleanup will most likely
continue for at least another month.

that crashed in eastern Afghanistan's
mountains have been killed.
Officials say at least two U- S

than 400 likely voters in the 5th

some new residents ... their names are
Wal-Mart and Applebee's.

Supercenter just outside the town
limits, but a new proposal would allow
Altavista to annex that commercial
property.
The town would collect the meals
taxes generated by Wal-Mart and

The move will help the town offset
the expense of providing services like
law enforcement in the area.
No residential properties would be
affected.
