A day of waiting has come to an
end this evening as the truck fire on
interstate-81 burned itself out.

Yesterday KEITH READS
Crews waited nearly 24-hours for
this truck filled with thousands of
pounds of sodium hydrosulfite, a
chemical highly reactive to water, to
burn out.
While that process continued,
traffic on interstate-81 was still been
diverted through Roanoke, causing major
back-ups.
As each piece burned out, fire
crews hauled away smoldering remains to
a nearby weigh station.
Both northbound lanes of the
interstate near mile marker 145 HAVE
now re-opened.

turn lane when he changed his mind and
swerved back into traffic and was hit
by a pick-up truck.

The statement comes in response
to an indictment against Advance Auto's
former Quality Control Director, Jessie
Arthur Mixon, Junior.

14 years at Advance Auto.
Mixon is accused of money
laundering and fraud.
As we reported last night Mixon
allegedly deceived Advance by leading
the company to believe it was buying
products from an outside firm rather
than from Mixon's own company.
Advance lost more than a million
and a half dollars in the scheme.

annual City-County Swim Meet.
The Roanoke Valley Aquatic
Association puts on the meet on each
yeat and it somewhat unique in that

it simply got too big for any of the
pools in the Roanoke Valley.
The two day event continues
tomorrow.
Hunting Hills Country club is
after its fourth straight championship.
Usually the swimmers relax inside

but renovation of the Dedmon Center has
forced everyone outside this year.

level of testosterone - went on the
offfensive today in an attempt to clear
his name.
At a newsconference today in
Madrid, Landis said the high
testosterone level that showed up in a
drug screening at the Tour de France is
