GRAPHIC=Interstate 81 Ax Last night was another messy night on

interstate-81, but this time the
southbound lanes took the beating.

The latest accident happened just
after eight o'clock right before the
Route 11 exit in Buchanan.

State Police say the driver of this
chevy van was hauling a camper when she
lost control and hit a guardrail.

No one was injured but as you can see
the camper was competely destroyed.

Traffic was backed up for several
miles because only one lane of traffic
was open.

The driver from North Carolina is
charged with failure to maintain
control.

annoyance it's nothing compared to
Thursday night's tractor trailer fire
that involved hazardous chemicals.

Thursday Health officials say the situation
could've been worse...but luckily
sodium hydrosulfite blend is not highly
toxic.

Even so, residents were evacuated as
a precaution because the chemical can
cause eye and skin irritation and
respiratory problems.

Health officials say the main risk is
over now that the fire is out. And
there is no evidence that sodium
hydrosulfite blend can cause cancer or
any long term effects.

And while they don't believe there
was any ground water contamination they
will be checking wells in the area.

The chemical is commonly used by the
paper industry for bleaching products.

Dozens of firefighters and rescue
workers responded to clean up the
scene.

And, when these crews deal with
chemical spills, they always use extra
precaution.

Firefighters from the Hollins
station were some of the first to
arrive at the scene.

They say anytime they work with
hazardous spills, their action plan
comes from the Emergency Response
Guide.

cases, drivers have a manifest, which
lists what kind of chemical they're
carrying.

are now back in their homes after the
evacuation.

Many stayed with family and
friends.

Others stayed in motels, before
receiving the "all clear" from
authorities yesterday morning.

about theft and fraud."

The statement comes in response
to an indictment against Advance Auto's
former Quality Control Director, Jessie
Arthur Mixon, Junior.

Mixon was fired a year ago, after
14 years at Advance Auto.

Mixon is accused of money
laundering and fraud.

As we reported Thursday night,
Mixon allegedly deceived Advance by
leading the company to believe it was
buying products from an outside firm
rather than from Mixon's own company.

Advance lost more than a million
and a half dollars in the scheme.

VO NAT The weather is finally cooling
down out west, but the heat is taking
a deadly toll. More than 130 people,
mostly elderly have died the past two
weeks, just in California alone. The
oppressive heat moves toward the
nation's mid-section this weekend, with
triple digit highs from the Dakotas
down to Texas.

VO NAT Elsewhere, it was heavy rain
causing problems. Parts of Lake County,
Ohio were under water yesterday after
hours of rain pounded the region.

Authorities were forced to
evacuate nearly a dozen homes in
northeast Ohio as forecasters warn
there could be more flooding on the

way. As much as 9 in inches of rain has
already fallen with more showers
possible today.

for a three day cease fire to allow
supplies into Lebanon and civilians to
get out of the war zone.

naval ship carrying supplies arrived to
help the displaced .

blood shed. The Israeli army says 26
Hezbollah fighters were killed in the
skirmish.

the damage from another rocket attack
on Tyre. At this point it's unclear if
they were any causalities.

Despite Israel's relentless bombing
this has still not lead Hezbollah to
release two Israeli soldiers or stop

prove to his legendary father Evel
Knievel.

He jumped more than 150 feet in the
air as a tribute to his father.

His father called him the greatest
daredevil of them all.

Evel Knievel established his son as his
successor after he was seriously
injured in a jump over a live tank of
sharks back in 1976. After suffering a
brain concussion and two broken arms he
decided to retire from major
performances.
