today.

International brought youth from
Indonesia to this Global Village in
Bedford County to teach the children
about America.

They also got a chance to learn
about democracy first hand.

Last night however, the students
were the teachers as they showcased

pretty surprising.

blend was over, even though the smell
was lingering. And they don't believe
there was ground water contamination
with this chemical.

ANY LONG TERM TOXIC EFFECT AFTER THE

Health officials say the chemical

involved is not highly toxic. Although
it can cause eye and skin irritation
and lead to respiratory problems. The
chemical is used by the paper industry
for bleaching products.

A new government study found that
about 40 percent of bariatric surgery
patients had a complication within six
months of leaving the hospital.

It found the five most common
complications were surgical problems
with the joining of the intestine and
stomach, infections, pneumonia,
abdominal hernias, and the most common
dumping syndrome which includes,
vomiting, reflux, and diarrhea.

But Dr. Alan White with Carilion
Surgical Care in Roanoke believes for
many patients the benefits outweigh the
risks.

And finally in health news, the sale
of Danville Regional Medical center
last year is now benefiting Danville
community college.

After the sale of the hospital money
was placed in a trust for health,
education, and the well being of
Southside residents.

And now the Danville Foundation is
giving 9-point-7 million dollars of it
to the college. The money will go
towards renovations on campus as well
as building a new Health Sciences
Center that will house a community
dental clinic and help to expand health
programs like nursing.

Even with the record heat,
Minnesotans can't get enough of their

favorite winter sports.

100 yesterday, Snowboarding fans
gathered at Pinewski's (puh-NESS-keys)
Ski Shop to watch the top riders in the
Midwest. This is the third annual event
Pinewski's has hosted in the summer,
giving fans a chance to see the best in
the business and meet representatives
from the top snowboarding companies. Of
course, the intense heat limited it to
a one-day event.

VO NAT The ongoing Texas drought has
many municipalities enforcing
neighborhood water restrictions for
lawns. But one Texas family has gotten
creative. This family has found a way
to water their grass everyday without
breaking with law. They recycle their
son's bath water by using it to keep
their Bermuda grass green and thriving.

Using $80 pump at a home
improvement store, they simply run a
hose out the front door and voila!
Enough water to keep the lawn looking

lush. They say even after the
restrictions are over, they'll keep
saving money by recycling the
bathwater.

GRAPHIC = DROWNING A Richmond teenager drowned

yesterday after being hit by a wave in
Virginia Beach.

Police say a 17-year-old boy was
standing on a sandbar in chest-deep
water when witnesses say a wave knocked
him over.

The boy apparently panicked and
didn't come up for air.

Lifeguards and Rescue workers made
an effort to save the teenager, but his
body was found forty-five minutes
later.

movie...what a surveillance camera
caught on tape at a California gas
station.

A man gets out of his car to pump
gas, shortly after he gets back in,
another car rams into his pump sending
flames shooting into the air. Everyone
was able to escape in time before the
cars burned to a crisp. The owner of
this Chevron says the fact no one was
injured could only be called an act of
God.

been driving. He says when the deputies
stopped him, he acted like a person
completely out of control. Gibson says
he is deeply sorry and ashamed of his

speed but realized he was intoxicated.
He was charged with a misdemeanor and
posted a 5-thousand dollar bond.

Gibson says he has battled the
