He's originally from Grayson
County and is wanted for possible
crimes in Wythe, Smyth, Grayson and
Carroll Counties.

woods with his 16 year old girlfriend.

They say he travels from county
to county robbing seasonal homes,
cabins and campers.

They say he takes showers and
steals food and items he needs to camp
with.

But they say he's getting bolder
and now starting to take money and
enter houses when people are at home.

Last night police believe he
broke into a home on Panther Creek
Road.

The man who lives there woke up
and chased him away.

investigators from three different
counties helped in the search last
night.

They had tracking dogs and a
state police helicopter.

They even had the pair within
reach.. but they know those woods and
managed to get away.

Rachel, do police believe he's

RACHEL ANSWER:

Jean, they have no indication he
has a gun and he's never tried to hurt
anyone, but they don't like the fact
that he's entering homes at night while
people are sleeping.

"Doogie" Hughes hid from police for 9
months in Montgomery County until he
was caught last July.

He was wanted for numerous
burglaries, including the armed robbery
of two McDonald's employees.

sentenced to 12 months in jail.

Herbert "Bucky" Stover, suffered an
apparent heart attack as he drove
southbound this morning on the
Interstate near Salem.

He was en route to Wythe County
when he suffered the attack. The truck

short time later at Lewis-Gale Medical
Center.

been a terribly difficult day for us
here at WDBJ. Bucky Stover worked at
this television station for 23 years.

air, Bucky was a vital member of our
team.

As a Maintenance Engineer, Bucky
was one of the people responsible for
installing and maintaining the

equipment that makes it possible for us
to operate.

In his other role, as one of our
satellite truck operators, Bucky was
directly involved in bringing the news
to you.

He was also active in community
events, as you can see from these
photos taken at the Roanoke Chili
Cookoff.

Bucky had a long career in
Roanoke broadcasting. In the 1970s, he
was a deejay at WROV-AM. There, he was
a member of the stellar announcing team
that included Bart Prater PRAY-tur,
Larry Bly and Rob O'Brady.

He leaves behind a wife and
daughter.

Our friend Bucky Stover was 49
years old.

people polled thought a tax free
weekend was a good idea.

in the quarterfinals of the VSGA's
Senior Women's Amateur at the
Homestead. Bolling fell 4 and 3 to
Alexandria's Shelley Savage on the
Cascades Course. Savage will now face
Springfield's Mimi Hoffman in the
finals.

Also today, the VSGA's Junior
Amateur is wrapping up at this hour at
Wintergreen. We'll have some results
of that tonight. Several local
