Around lunchtime yesterday,
several workers were doing their jobs,
despite the sweltering temperatures.

Some folks trying to do what they
could to stay cool...drinking lots of
water...staying in the shade...and even
bringing fans.

One vendor says the heat brought
something else...a dip in business.

Lewis-Gale Medical Center says it
had several patients come to the E-R
yesterday for a heat related illness.

A doctor there says people don't
realize just how quickly heat
exhaustion can happen and then progress

to heat stroke which can be deadly.
