NBC Sports Things didn't go as well for :00 Elliott Sadler, who spun out and
smacked the wall just 3 laps in

Jeff Gordon went three laps down

after suffering a broken bolt on the
front sway bar.

Points leader Jimmie Johnson
came in to fix a flat at lap 40, and
went through a fire in the pits as he
exited.

But he fought his way back to
the front, and on fresh tires passed
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. for the lead with
10 to go.

Johnson then held off Matt
Kenseth to take the win.

Five of the past 8 winners at
the Brickyard have gone on to win the
championship.

just 4 and 6 a year ago, but that was 4
more than they won in 2004.
