We begin with breaking news from
eastern Virginia, where the man accused
of murdering V-C-U freshman Taylor Behl
BEEL entered a guilty plea within the
hour.

ENG#=1 VO-NAT

*CG locator Matthews Co.

39-year-old Ben Fawley had been
expected to plead guilty to second
degree murder in Matthews County.

That's along the state's eastern
shore, where Behl's body was found
buried in a shallow grave last October.

In court today, Fawley admitted
killing the 17-year-old college student
last September, shortly after she
arrived on campus.

It's part of a plea agreement with
prosecutors, who were expected to drop
unrelated charges of possession of
child pornography.

If possible, we'll have live
reaction from the courthouse later in
this newscast, and we'll have more
details on today's guilty plea on
News-7 at 6.

(END SOT) Lose an election.. start a new party..

That's senator Joe Lieberman 's
mantra..

Hours after losing his states
democratic primary Lieberman campaign
filed papers to create "Connecticut for
Lieberman".

It means come November, Hell run for
a possible fourth term as an
Independent.

Lieberman lost to Political newcomer
Ned Lamont who used Lieberman's close
relationship with

President Bush and his support of the
war against him.

: NED LAMONT/(D) CT SENATE CANDIDATE:

"We want to change a course, we want to
change a course in Iraq and start
vesting in our own country again."

Many political experts say the results
of this primary could very well serve
as a precursor of what's to come in
midterm elections.. Both parties trying
to distance themselves from the war.

DREW LEVINSON/GREENWICH CT:

A CBS NEWS POLL REVEALS THE MAJORITY OF
DEMOCRATS WHO VOTED IN THE CONNECTICUT
PRIMARY FEEL IT IS A MISTAKE FOR
LIEBERMAN TO RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT IN
NOVEMBER, THEY SAY IT WILL SPLIT THE
PARTY, MAKING IT EASIER FOR A
REPUBLICAN TO REGAIN THE SEAT.

But there are those who still say go
Joe go.

DON PERRY/CONNECTICUT VOTER:

"WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS THAT LIEBERMAN
IS GOING TO RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT

A NEVER DIE ATTITUDE, I WOULD RATHER BE
IN THE RACE THAT WAY THERE IS

ALWAYS A CHANCE OF HIM TO STAY WITH THE
SENATE."

His fellow democratic senator from
Connecticut disagrees.

Sen. Christopher Dodd/(D)Connecticut:

"I regret that decision but that was
his decision to make and certainly we
will have a spirited campaign if he
stays in it."

To Dodd and NY democrat Sen. Chuck
Schumer Lieberman says..

SEN. JOE LIEBERMAN/(D) CONNECTICUT: I
SAY RESPECTFULLY CHUCK I AM GOING FOR
IT AS I SAID LAST NIGHT NOT JUST FOR MY
STATE BUT FOR MY PARTY.

Many here say Lieberman lost and should
just let it go..His ship they say, has
sailed.

GRAPHIC=BAM Maurice Clarett has gone from the

pent-house to the out-house and it
looks he will soon be in the Big House
for a very long time.

The Former Ohio State Running
Back who helped lead the Buckeyes to a
National Championship is once again in
trouble with police and this time
big-time trouble

Clarett was arrested early this
morning by police after leading them on
a chase in his S-U-V. According to the
police report, Clarett would not go
peacefully so they tried to use a
stun-gun on him but he was wearing a
bullet proof vest that prevented that
from working. So the police had to use
to subdue him.

After he was put in the back of a

Police Car the officers found a loaded
assault rifle and three loaded handguns
in the car including a loaded 9
millimeter, as well as a half empty
bottle of Vodka.

Clarett is in jail on charges of
carrying a concealed weapon. He was
scheduled to be in court today on
previous charges relating to a robbery
outside of a Columbus Bar.

The William Bryd Terriers were 2
and 8 last season. That's not the
record that Head Coach Jeff Highfill
wants to see next to his team. But
considering the team started out the
year 0 and 6 and they featured mostly
Sophmores and Freshman a year ago,

optimism is high for the Terriers going
into the 2-thousand and 6.

The team is bigger, stronger and
faster thanks to their work in the
off-season.

Coming up tonight at 6 we will
hear from Coach Highfill who also talks
about the senior Leadership that this
team has to lead the way for the
younger players who got valuable
experience a season ago.

back to wrap up News 7 at 5.
