year old V-C-U student is apparently
ready to enter a guilty plea.

File Tape Today, Benjamin Fawley is
expected to plead guilty to
second-degree murder in the death of
Taylor Behl.
Published reports said Fawley's defense
team worked out a plea agreement with
prosecutors to drop unrelated charges
of possession of child pornography.
His trial was set to begin August 17th.

Education 7 animation school year, the day for kids attending
Roanoke City Schools has been extended
to a six hours.
Here's a look at the new
schedule.....

The elementary schools will be
split into two groups according to
size.
The larger schools will be in
session from 8 to 2:50.
The smaller schools will go from
nine to 3:15, middle schools from 7:20
to 2:10 and the two high schools from
eight until two fifty.
The new schedule brought some
debate at last night's school board's
meeting......

Discussion ranged from the
possibility of elementary- aged
students starting school earlier in the
day to how the new schedule will affect
sporting events and extra-curricular
activities.
There was also the lingering
question of how teachers will be
compensated for the extra time they'll
be instructing.
Board members are planning on
re-evaluating this change after one
semester and getting
feedback...possibly to tweak things if
need be.

underway in Botetourt County -James
River High School students won't just
have to contend with learning a new
schedule...

renovation and addition is underway
making it an entirely different school.
Students, teachers and staff can
expect a new administration and library
facility, refurbished classrooms and
new heating and air conditioning.
While the project is ahead of
schedule, it won't be done before
students return to the classroom on
August 23rd.

Tangelwood Mall in Roanoke County is
going ahead as planned.

The land was cleared nearly two years
ago but as you can see construction has
yet to begin.
The developer says the project is
still a go, in fact it's been expanded.

coming to Martinsville -- but some
residents say not so fast.

The idea surfaced after Adelphia
cable -- which serves the city and
Henry County -- filed for bankruptcy.
But, many residents say the city
violated state laws -- by proceeding
with the plan without FIRST holding a
referendum.
The issue could end up being
moot.
Last week, a judge awarded
Adelphia's assets to ComCast cable
instead.
The city has now filed a lawsuit
against ComCast over the right of first
refusal.

children.

of vandalism discovered well before the
paint-can incident in May.
Tyler Moses Moore, Junior, was indicted
this week along with two other men.
Though the three suspects know each
other, they're not accused of working
together to deface public and private
property.
Moses Moore and the two other students
still face felony charges in New York
City.

Construction out of New York could face
fines of more than two million dollars
because the project was nearly a year
behind schedule.

Turner released a statement to News 7
saying it will work with the university
to resolve the issues experienced on

threatened lives at the Montgomery
County Courthouse.

The building was shutdown after
someone called in a bomb threat around
10:45 yesterday morning.
Within ten minutes, sheriff's
deputies and Christiansburg Police
moved in to evacuate the building.
Bomb sniffing dogs from Roanoke
and State Police were even brought in,
but no bomb was ever found.
The building re-opened shortly
after 1:30, but the court cases were
canceled for the day.
Investigators are tracing the
phone call.

yesterday.
