flying on a commerical airline? Nearly
a third of you said very safe, more
than a third said somewhat safe, 19
percent said not very safe and 17
percent not safe at all.

The next question focused on
future travel plans and if you would
change them because of terrorist
concerns? 17 percent of you said yes,
you would change your plans, while 77
percent of you said no, leaving six

percent unsure.

With the news rules of restricted
carry on items, the next question asked
do you believe all carry on luggage
should be banned. A third of those
polled said yes, more than half said no
and eleven percent didn't feel positive
one way or the other.

Now, you might be wondering, of
those polled, 77 percent do not
consider themselves frequent flyers.>>

Ray several times, though Ray survived.

Holmes is now 24.

His attorney says he hears
voices, that's he's legally insane.

is hard to say.

Though he came to court today ready for

released the identity of a man hit and
killed in Campbell County.

his bicycle on Route 29 South around 4

this morning, when he was hit by an
unknown vehicle.

It happened about a half mile
south of English Tavern Road.

Anyone who was in the area
between 4 and 4:30, and may have seen

State Police.

a suspect after putting together a
deadly puzzle.

In the early hours of July 30th the
County's Sheriff's Office received
reports of gunfire in the area of the
Whitestone Village Townhouses on Fonda
Drive, just off Timberlake Road.

They found shell casings from
several weapons and some shot-up cars
-- but no evidence anyone had been hurt
and no witnesses.


More than a week later, police
learned that after the call --
24-year-old Lashawn Kemann Prunty of
Chatham, was brought to the Danville
hospital with a gunshot wound to the
head.

He was later transported to U-V-A
Medical Center where he died.

Turns out Prunty WAS a victim of
the Fonda Drive shooting.

a new contract that will cut worker's
paychecks.

The United Steelworkers of
America says the Ohio based tiremaker
wants to cut those wages by more than
40 percent.

Negotiations were broken off two
weeks ago.

The contract would cover more
than 12-thousand workers, inlcuding
about two thousand in Danville.

Maurice Clarett, former starting
runningback for the university spent

today in court.

This after, police say he was
driving his SUV all over the road.
According to officers, Clarett fled
police and then put up a fight, going
as far as spitting at police.

Officers say Clarett had weapons
in the car, was wearing a bulletproof
vest and was just blocks from the home
of a woman who was set to testify
against him next week in an alleged
robbery.

A judge set his bond at more than six
million dollars.

McLelland Metro Invitational was being
held atHunting Hills. This one of the
first big High School Golf tournaments
of the season.

out of their cars just to get a peak at
the golfers.

The leader heading into the final
18 holes was Luke Hoffman of Franklin
County and he stayed that way after his
round of 1 over par, 71, that good
enough to take home the individual
title.

Second place in the individual
competition went to Jed Rasnick of Lord
Botetourt who was 7 strokes back of
Hoffman.


In the Team competition. Salem
had the lead and they did nothing to
give it away, actually extending it in
the Final Round. Second place went to
Cave Spring who leap-frogged Franklin
County in todays play.

celebration in honor of National
Farmer's Market Week.

Roanoke's historic downtown city
market is nearly 125 years old and
although there are signs of age, city

leaders are planning renovations that
will bring the market back to its
original luster.

Renovations will include physical
changes like new farmer's stalls and
canopies.

Purchasing changes such as
accepting food stamps, and senior
citizen farmer's market nutrition
programs are also in the works.
