condition this evening following an on
the job accident.

morning.

22-year-old Jose Mosqueda
-Ramirez was in the basket of this
cherry picker, when the boom was hit by
a passing tractor-trailer.

The cherry picker flipped,
sending Ramirez and the basket he was
operating to the ground.

Ramirez was taken to the hospital
with minor injuries.

Jefferson Street between Reserve
avenue and Williamson road was closed
for hours as crews righted the fallen
lift.

OSHA and the Roanoke City Police
department are investigating the

accident.

Thursday morning.

Yesterday Morning Troopers say he was 63-year-old
Jimmie Lloyd Augustat of Rustburg.

Officers are still
investigating the incident as a hit and
run accident. They say Augustat was
pushing his bicycle on Route 29 South
around 4 a.m. Thursday when he was hit
by an unknown vehicle.

Investigators hope an autopsy
report will tell them more. That report
could come early next week.

Police in Blacksburg found the
"bird you can bank on" this afternoon
in an area of the Deerfield Subdivision
in the Tom's Creek Basin.

The bird disappeared earlier this
month.

Seventy five fiberglass statues
of the Hokie bird are placed across
Blacksburg as part of the Gobble de Art
Program -- designed to raise awareness
for the arts.

This one was apparently undamaged
--- and will be put back in its

original spot at First National Bank on

first full week of summer practice
tomorrow afternoon with a scrimmage.

As we told you at 5 missing from
that scrimmage and for another 3 to 6
weeks will be Jahre Cheesman a
Red-shirt Freshman Cornerback who had
Knee Surgery this afternoon.

Even with the loss of Cheesman
and another cornerback in Roland Minor,
the defense is ahead of the offense
early on.

Pretty impressive when you
consider Five starters off of last
year's "D" are now in N-F-L training
camps, but so far the ones left behind
like what they're seeing.

Speed Qualifying this afternoon at
Watkins Glen and the Penske Cars were
fast in Practice and were looking to
take the top Spot.

Early on Ryan Newman proving that

the Practice was no fluke as he took
the top spot on the grid.

Greg Biffle was trying to knock
Newman off and maybe trying to Hard,
Biffle gets loose and hits the wall
with the back end, he'll start based on
his Owner Points.

The Man who was the best was Kurt
Busch who blew away the field and will
start first on Sunday with a lap of
1-hundred twenty two point 9-6-6 miles
an hour and on a Road Course Track
Position means a whole lot.
