That was the message yesterday at
a celebration in honor of National
Farmer's Market Week.
Roanoke's historic downtown city
market is nearly 125 years old and
although there are signs of age, city
leaders are planning renovations that
will bring the market back to its
original luster.
Renovations will include physical
changes like new farmer's stalls and
canopies.
Purchasing changes such as
accepting food stamps, and senior
citizen farmer's market nutrition
programs are also in the works.

June resulted in disorderly conduct
charges.
Though he came to court yesterday ready
for trial, the case was taken under
advisement so long as he "keeps the
peace."
The Judge told him he'll have to speak
in a civil manner the next time he
appears before council.
If Gravely stays out of trouble for 12
months, the charges will be dismissed.

GRAPHIC=MURDER INVESTIGATION Campbell County police have a
suspect after putting together a deadly
puzzle.

In the early hours of July 30th the
County's Sheriff's Office received
reports of gunfire in the area of the
Whitestone Village Townhouses on Fonda
Drive, just off Timberlake Road.
They found shell casings from
several weapons and some shot-up cars
-- but no evidence anyone had been hurt
and no witnesses.
More than a week later, police
learned that after the call --
24-year-old Lashawn Kemann Prunty of
Chatham, was brought to the Danville
hospital with a gunshot wound to the
head.
He was later transported to U-V-A
Medical Center where he died.
Turns out Prunty WAS a victim of
the Fonda Drive shooting.

room that's been helping solve crimes
since April.

victims of violence in the community.
It's designed and equipped for
those who need special examination and
treatment in the Emergency Department.
