In Britain, police are searching
homes for more evidence in the terror
investigation.

A British newspaper says a message
to attack was intercepted earlier this
week, after American intelligence
detected terrorist chatter.

So far, authorities have arrested two
dozen people on suspicion of
involvement in the plot to blow up
airliners heading to the U- S.

All of the suspects are British
born-- most of them are of Pakistani
descent.

As the faces of the alleged terrorists

those LIVING AMONG THEM were bent

on KILLING as many americans as
possible by blowing up planes over US

cities.

which froze the assets of 19

suspects - and revealed their
identities on its website.

Britain's Guardian newspaper, citing
unidentified sources, said after

the arrests in Pakistan -- a message

in.

The next question focused on
future travel plans and if you would
change them because of terrorist

you would change your plans, while 77
percent of you said no, leaving six
percent unsure.

With the news rules of restricted

do you believe all carry on luggage

I GO LIGHT ON THE MAKEUP AND THE
SUNBLOCK, SHE SAYS, "SO TO KEEP OUT THE
SUN, I USE AN UMBRELLA."

BRIDGE STANDUP (Lucy Craft, CBS News,
Tokyo) WHEN BEACH SEASON ROLLS AROUND
AND AMERICANS ARE WORKING ON THEIR
TANS, JAPANESE WOMEN HEAD FOR THE SHADE
- IN HOT PURSUIT OF THE PALEFACE LOOK.

TRACK Tucked beneath their floppy hats
and parasols like turtles, Japanese
women work overtime to save their
skins.

MOS/WITH VOICE OVER."I WANT SKIN LIKE A
BABY'S," SAYS THIS HOUSEWIFE, "WHITE,
WITH NO FRECKLES OR AGE SPOTS."

TRACK For a millennium, "white beauty"
has been their holy grail...

SOT (vox) "I ENVY WOMEN WITH PURE WHITE

SKIN," SHE SAYS.

TRACK The white beauty's arsenal starts
with the U-V-ray-resistant
"sun-brella..."

NAT SOT (man showing me sun-brellas)

TRACK A southern belle's dream of linen
and lace, sun-brellas can fetch a cool

800 dollars apiece.

SOT/with voice over (proprietor) "IT

OPERATES LIKE A VENETIAN BLIND," SAYS
THE PROPRIETOR.

TRACK Of course, simply dodging rays
won't guarantee that coveted alabaster
complexion. Not to worry - Japan's
cosmetics industry is right there to
lend mother nature a helping hand...

Products like "Whitissimo" and "Be
White Plus" attack the arch enemy of
white skin -- melanin.

Small wonder Japanese women flock to
salons in order to lighten up.

For most of an hour, I was
moisturized... massaged...
vanilla-frosted like a cupcake...

And yes, even mummified... King Tut
never had it so good...

And presto - beyond the pale! Lucy
Craft, CBS News, Tokyo.
