people yesterday in Henry County.

State Police say 19-year-old
Christopher Boyd was traveling along
Eggleston Falls Road -- when he lost
control of his vehicle and hit a
vehicle driven by 67-year-old James
Handy.

62-year-old Janie Gillespie and
18-year-old Taffany Deal died as a
result of the accident.

They were both passengers in each
of the vehicles.

Harley will help fund a potentially
life-saving program.

Ride the Roanoke Police Department has
hosted to benefit Project Lifesaver.

The program gives tracking
bracelets to children who are deaf and
to people who suffer from Alzheimers,

people who've wandered away from their
homes.

Harper a Harvard graduate from
Washington, DC is now the new health
director from Roanoke and Alleghany
health districts.

She most recently worked with a
community development corporation. But
she's also worked in private practice
and as a professor.

The Edward Via College of Osteopathic
Medicine is expanding. The medical
school has opened a facility in the
Dominican Republic. The center is
staffed with a physician and students
will go there on month long mission
trips.

Heavy rains and flash floods
caused severe home damage throughout
parts of southern West Virginia early
this weekend.

VO NAT Four inches of rain turned creaks
into rivers, as fast moving flood water
damaged 35 homes and destroyed at least
three.

Tons of rock and massive mud
slides caused by overflowing creeks
forced dozens of people to evacuate and
seek higher ground at a moments notice.

Many are now having to deal with
over eight inches of mud in their
basements. Thankfully no one was hurt.

VO NAT Typhoon Saomai, the strongest
storm to strike China in 50 years,
weakened to a tropical depression on
Friday but drenched the country's
southeast Zhejiang and Fujian Province
on yesterday.

So far, Saomai has killed 142
people, but local residents believe
that the figure is much higher.

Ahead of the storm, about 1
million people were evacuated from
flood-prone areas. The pacific has seen
8 named tropical systems, to our 3 so
far this season.

could be just a day away.

The Lebanese cabinet voted
unanimously on Saturday to approve the
U-N Security Council resolution aimed
at halting the continuing violence in
the country.

The cease-fire is set to go into
effect Monday morning.

After the halt in fighting, some
15-thousand Lebanese troops and an
equal number of U.N. forces are to
deploy in coming days in south Lebanon
and create a Hezbollah HEZ-bowl-lah
-free zone.

The Lebanese government approved
the deal Saturday, and a Hezbollah
leader signaled grudging acceptance,
but also warned that "the war has not
ended."

Israeli warplanes struck targets
in the Lebanese coastal city of Tyre.

The strikes targeted gas stations
across the eastern part of the city.

areas around the beach.

One person is reportedly dead
from Hezbollah rocket fire in northern
Israel.

At least five Lebanese civilians
are reported dead in stepped-up Israeli
attacks, including a mother and three
children.

a record yesterday.

The Square Society kicked off the
ninth annual Microfestivus beer
festival.

Folks got the chance to taste
more than 50-beers from over 20-micro
and craft breweries -- as well as
listen to music and enjoy food.

Officials say this year's
attendance surpassed last year's -- so
much so- that they ran out of beer.

The group raised a record
40-thousand dollars -- the most
successful fundraiser in The Square
Society History.

The proceeds will benefit three
museums and performing arts companies
around the area -- as well as the
region's art council.
