Mary Short were found dead in their Oak
Level home.
Their 9 year old daughter Jennifer
was nowhere to be found.

August 2002 But six weeks later, Jennifer's
remains were found near a bridge in
Rockingham County North Carolina.
She, like her parents, had been shot
to death.

interviewed thousands of people.
The only person ever named as a
person of interest in the murders is
Gary Bowman, a North Carolina man who

home.

Jennifer herself was the target.

gangs in the Shenandoah Valley.
The state attorney general's office
yesterday unveiled a new anti-gang
initiative for the Valley, including
Rockbridge County and Lexington.
A new full-time gang prosecutor
will soon be on board, in hopes of
unifying law-enforcement efforts across
the area.

Both sides insist they prevailed in
this conflict. Fireworks lit up the
night sky in Beirut after Hezbollah�s
leader promised money to rebuild
Lebanon and declared a strategic and

President Bush disputed that claim from

when at one time you were a
state within a state, safe within
southern Lebanon, and now you're going
to be replaced by a Lebanese army and
an international force?
The Lebanese army may start moving in

complete its withdrawal by next week.

In Blacksburg, police are looking
for a man who robbed two women
yesterday at gunpoint in the downtown
area.
He got away on foot with a wallet
and a purse.
Police say the man is five-
eight, about 150 pounds with blonde
hair.

Blacksburg authorities are also
trying to find whoever broke into a
business over the weekend.
250 glass pipes, 22 cases of
rolling papers and knit hats were
stolen from Hedz Way on North Main

flying out of Roanoke are adapting
quickly to the new security procedures
So far, Roanoke Regional Airport

expensive for parents.

backpacks filled with supplies to help
them adjust more smoothly this school
year.
Each of the backpacks was tailored to

County woke up to a missing girl and
two murdered parents. Jennifer Short's
