A former schoolteacher, John Mark
Karr was arrested yesterday in
Thailand.
Karr admits he was with the six-

"her death was an accident."

Ramsey.

US authorities say Karr has been very
cooperative since his arrest
Wednesday at this Bangkok apartment..
the former school teacher is
charged with murder, kidnapping and
sexual assault of a child in
Colorado.
BRIDGE: The Boulder district attorney�s
office is the lead agency in
this investigation and has been focused
on Karr for the past few
months.. he is expected back here
within the next week.

one year ago on Thomas Avenue.

No arrests have been made in the case
- a situation similar to that of his
father.

caught people off guard.

Where scammers once sent links to
bogus websites seeking personal
information, the new fraud includes an
email asking bank customers to call a
fake phone number.

VoIP converts the voice signal
from your telephone into a digital
signal that travels over the Internet.
If you are calling a regular phone
number, the signal is then converted

computer, a special VoIP phone, or a
traditional phone using an adapter.
V-O-I-P allows users to set up an
account and choose practically any
phone number they want.
One popular service is Vonage.

local number for your area and send out
an email saying there is a problem with
your bank or credit card account.

This is an example of a message
made to look like it came from Santa
Barbara Bank and Trust, a bank in
California.
Once people take the prescribed
steps to resolve the issue, scammers
get the information through an
automated response system which answers
the calls.
It's set up to sound like a
legitimate financial institution's
phone system prompting you to type in
your 16-digit credit card number and
expiration date to verify your
information.
Once you do that, you've just
given the scammers all they need to
have access to your account.>>

It's fairly simple to get a Voice
over Internet Protocol number
anonymously, which is not the case for
normal telephone numbers.
That makes it easier for scammers
to carry out these vishing scams.

US authorities say Karr has been very

charged with murder, kidnapping and

Colorado.

Avenue.
Police say 30 year old Raytoine Gray
then tried to run on foot, and that's

Gray was taken to the hospital for a
dog bite. He's been charged with felony
eluding and booked on an unrelated

that could catch fire.

was diagnosed with Hodgkin s disease..
but chemo made the teenager so ill he
declined a second round.
Since then he s been using an
unapproved herbal remedy with his
parents permission.
Social services took the case to court
and Wednesday attorneys for both sides
reached an agreement.. allowing Cherrix
to skip chemo.. as long as he sees a
doctor certified in radiation therapy
and interested in alternative
treatments.

A new report shows the number of
caesarean sections continues to rise.
Each year, one out of four babies are
delivered by c-section.
That s up 38 percent since 19-97.
And the number of women having second
child by caesarean has increased by 33
percent.

A team of scientists in London is
touting a major breakthrough in race to
develop a drug to treat the bird flu.
They ve found a weak point in part of
the H5N1 virus that they believe they
can exploit to create an effective
drug.
The catch is that the process of using
this information to make the drug could
take five years or longer.

caught people off guard.

"vishing" or voice phishing.
Where scammers once sent links to
bogus websites seeking personal
information, the new fraud includes an
email asking bank customers to call a
fake phone number.

long-distance calling over the net.
VoIP converts the voice signal
from your telephone into a digital
signal that travels over the Internet.
If you are calling a regular phone
number, the signal is then converted
back at the other end. VoIP can allow
you to make a call directly from a
computer, a special VoIP phone, or a
traditional phone using an adapter.
V-O-I-P allows users to set up an
account and choose practically any
phone number they want.
One popular service is Vonage.

Scammers use the program to
create what-seems-to-be a legitmate
local number for your area and send out
an email saying there is a problem with
your bank or credit card account.

This is an example of a message
made to look like it came from Santa
Barbara Bank and Trust, a bank in
California.
Once people take the prescribed
steps to resolve the issue, scammers
get the information through an
automated response system which answers
the calls.
It's set up to sound like a
legitimate financial institution's
phone system prompting you to type in
your 16-digit credit card number and
expiration date to verify your
information.
Once you do that, you've just
given the scammers all they need to
have access to your account.>>>

It's fairly simple to get a Voice
over Internet Protocol number
anonymously, which is not the case for
normal telephone numbers.
That makes it easier for scammers
to carry out these vishing scams.
To avoid falling into the trap,
simply do not call a phone number you
receive in an email like this.
