deputy inside the Montgomery Regional
Hospital early this morning.

surrounded Montgomery Regional
Hospital early Sunday morning as the
Blacksburg Police department began
their search for this man.

24-year-old William Charles
Morva.

Morva was an inmate being
escorted by a Montgomery County Deputy
to the hospital's emergency room for
treatment of a sprained wrist and leg.

Around 2:30, Morva overpowerd the
deputy.

DEPUTY'S WEAPON, SHOTS WERE FIRED

OQ= Morva allegedly shot the deputy

and a hospital security guard who tried
to help.

Investigators say Morva shed his
orange jumpsuit and took off on foot,
believed to be armed with the deputy's
service pistol.

State Police helicopters, police
dogs, and officers from around the
region immediately began their man
hunt.

At one point officers say this
car driven by one of Morva's relatives
was stopped at a nearby gas station,
but no sign of Morva.

Police say Morva is likely armed

out who shot two men in Danville early
this morning.

One of the victims called police
from a car wash on Arnette Boulevard.

He was shot in the chest and is
listed in stable condition at Danville
Regional Medical Center.

Police also found a second man
who was shot in the leg several blocks
away on Melville Avenue.

Roanoke Star is being pushed back by
about a week.

crews had expected to have the star lit
up by tomorrow night, but now that will
not be the case.

The PLANNED renovations were
completed today, but V-E-S and city
leaders have decided to do more
renovations than originally planned.

V-E-S officials say that means
another week of wiring, and neon tube
replacements.

The new relighting date is
tentatively set for about a week from
today.

number of calls and emails. Many of
them took issue with law enforcement's
charge that the dogs were being bred to
fight.

"These dogs are great dogs. They are
not aggressive and they are certainly
not trained fighting dogs," Michelle
Montgomery told us. "I have known the
Burlarleys for years now. We even have
one of their dogs that we got 5 years
ago. They treat these dogs like they
are their children."

The growing pricetag of a new William
Fleming High School get Becky Johnson's
attention this week:

"I can't wait to see the next
"surprise" that is sprung on those of
us living in the Fleming attendance
area...," she wrote, "probably the

stadium or even lack of one for even
longer than originally proposed."

And a piece of video included in a
story about a shooting in Henry County
brought this response from Sherri
Yeatts in Gretna:

"Your coverage of the shooting death of
Mr. Perdue in Henry County could have
been much improved had you left the
cameras off Mr. Perdue's grieving
family. No one, including myself, could
imagine the pain of losing a loved one
in this manner. Add sensationalism to
the mix, and no good purpose is ever
served. "

he killed six-year-old beauty queen
JonBenet Ramsey is on his way to the
U-S.

Karr is expected to arrive in
California sometime tonight, where he's
wanted on child pornography charges.

But a host of challengers were
ready to knock Tiger off his perch in
the final round.

struggled to a 74 and finished tied for

Micheel finds the bottom of the jar for
one of his 6 birdies on the day. He
finished at 13-under in 2nd by himself.

Tiger was nothing short of
awesome in the final round. The flat

stick was his best friend as he rolls
in a 40 footer for bird, extending his
lead to five shots on the back side.

Later, more putter magic as
Woods curls it in the left side of the
cup. Tiger finished at 18-under par,
good for a five shot win. It's his
12th major victory. He needs just 6
more to catch Jack Nicklaus.

Kevin Harvick was tracking Matt
Kenseth for the lead at lap 22, but
Harvick got loose and rode the merry go
round before recovering to finish 11th.

With just 36 to go, Kenseth
wrestled the lead away from Clint
Bowyer and took care of his tires
enough to beat Jeff Gordon to the
checkers by 10 car lengths. It's
Kenseth's 3rd win of the season and he
now trails Johnson by just 58 points in
standings.
